OK, gentlemen ... the two-time SLC Champions are one week away from arriving in Natchitoches. They don't have Bryan Bennett anymore at QB, but they still have a very good football team. Their roster is littered with transfers, as usual. The question is, are we there yet? Can we beat this team or will we come up competitively short again? I think the day is coming when we will beat SLU again in the future (not necessarily every year), but I am just not sure if it will be this year. Can we beat them? Without a doubt. Will we? Time will tell!!!

I agree with your assessment but we are in the same boat as SLU in many ways. This could be a 6-5 team or something special depending on how things and people come together. My guess, a Demon romp!!!

I don't mean to sound defeatist..but even if NSU loses I am just glad to be back to a point where I enjoy making the 4 hour drive to Natchitoches, watching these kids play and represent my alma mater. During the peveto era it was hard to justify that trip to be honest. I don't know if this is going to be a special year, but I do know a special year is coming so long as Jay Thomas is the head coach. A week from today Ill be tailgating and excited to see all the sights and sounds of game day.
Both teams breaking in new QBs, Im gonna say 27-24 score, not sure who comes out on top though.

You are exactly right, Stinger. With Jay Thomas at the helm, it's just a matter of time before we are a team to be dealt with in the SLC and the FCS. But, for now, we watch, wait, see and enjoy for what it is. Cajun, the Peveto era was tough on everyone, including Peveto. Every team goes through that cycle at some point! Hopefully we won't see that again for awhile.

Dallas, I wish I could share your optimism, sir. I am in the school of thought that we will need some superb offense, some SLU mistakes and a complete game on defense to win. It can be done, but until we do it, we're not over the hump yet. But, it won't be too long until we conquer that enigmatic "hurdle" and move back into the upper echelon of the SLC.

I heard an estimate of roughly 10-11,000. Could have been wrong though. Not sure

Game prediction: NSU 30 -- SLU 28, in a nailbiter! I hope I'm wrong and we blow their doors off, but I am trying not to drink the whole jug of kool-aid, yet.

Hi Demon fans, as a Lion fan I always enjoy the trip up to Natchitoches. Just a little insight on the 2015 Lion squad...our starter will be Landor (a FBS transfer from ULL) who actually played in 7 games last year. He is a dual threat qb and has clearly looked the best in Fall camp and scrimmages. The weak spot for the Lions is probably their offensive line. The OL returns four starters, but has way too many penalties.
Our games are always close and I would expect the same this year. The last time we played at Turpin, it took a kick off return to start the third quarter to swing the momentum.

Landor is very talented. Should be an interesting matchup with each team's QB from the past two seasons gone and plenty of new faces hitting the field from both sides. May the best team win.

I think we may travel well for this one even though it's a Thursday game. Since there is a big viewing party on the Northshore, and no fan bus...maybe 300-400. It seems like hotel rooms are limited based off me booking a room over the weekend.

We had upwards of 10k last year in our opening game. And the opponent wasn't an in-state rival.
