Generally the student turnout for the home opener on a thursday is better than if it were a saturday game. Kind of dictates the whole season, I remember when we opened up vs North Dakota one year and had like 13k and we took a dump on the field and it killed student enthusiasm. To an extent I think the new president will greatly improve student turnout, more students living on campus means more that would likely be at the game.

We really need to get our on campus/Natchitoches student enrollment up. It's very deceiving when you look at the university enrollment and then look at the number of students who live on campus/in Natchitoches.

I think it was 1000 - 1100...lol Thursday night games are usually pretty thin for us. I think we may travel well for this one even though it's a Thursday game. Since there is a big viewing party on the Northshore, and no fan bus...maybe 300-400. It seems like hotel rooms are limited based off me booking a room over the weekend. Natchitoches hotels should be able to accommodate 300-400 fans easily. Maybe we actually have a few Demons coming in for the game.

I don't mean to sound defeatist..but even if NSU loses I am just glad to be back to a point where I enjoy making the 4 hour drive to Natchitoches, watching these kids play and represent my alma mater. During the peveto era it was hard to justify that trip to be honest. I don't know if this is going to be a special year, but I do know a special year is coming so long as Jay Thomas is the head coach. A week from today Ill be tailgating and excited to see all the sights and sounds of game day. Both teams breaking in new QBs, Im gonna say 27-24 score, not sure who comes out on top though. Well, I say hat's off to both teams for the gutsy call on opening up on a Thursday night with a conference game and being two formidable opponents. Makes one nervous though, but these teams, these kids, will be ready to play with a lot on the line and still needing to work out the wrinkles without the benefit of a preseason/preconference opponent. I can't wait!! Pulling for SLU, but just happy for FCS football to get underway.......Lion Up....Fork 'em.....Pick your poison; It's going to be a good one!!

No matter who wins, this game will make both teams tougher earlier. Heck, NSU has SLU, ULL, Miss State and UCA out of the gate. It doesn't get much tougher than that and we may not see the benefits of it until later in the season or even next year, but it will pay off at some point. The doorstep Demons are history and even though we're taking small steps, we're not far from turning the corner and getting over that hump. May the best team win. I am not delusional that it will take quite an effort from us to win tomorrow night.

Not to say SLU doesn't need the W but for NSU football and the university in general, we really, really, REALLY need to start the season off with a W. There's a lot of momentum going on surrounding NSU and Dr. Henderson coming aboard to steer the ship. Did anyone else see the picture of the pep rally last night?! I was in college and in the Spirit of Northwestern from 98-02 and there was NEVER that many people at a pep rally when I was in college...probably not even half of what was present last night.

I swear...every time we get a decent crowd we lay an egg and half those people won't show back up the rest of the season because they'll leave with the "another typical Demon season...".
Defense is doing all they can despite being left on the field for most of the game...offense is just deplorable against Transfer U.

Offense isn't looking good right now. Lions are stacking 8 in the box and we aren't passing.

This is the exact type of game we did NOT need. Hope we can make a comeback.

Nothing but runs on 1st and 2nd so SLU is stacking the box. We are basically passing on 3rd and long. Really haven't liked our offense play calling so far

Blumenthal seems to have something going. Wish I could listen on my phone, mobile is down for audio/video though.
