I can't remember being this anxious for the first game of the season. I'm always fairly optimistic but I truly have fewer concerns than in years past. I think we will be better than last year but apparently so will others in the conference and the schedule does not help with the big gap between home games.
As always, we will need to for the OL to stay healthy. I am also very curious about how our offensive play calling will look compared to last year.
FORK EM!

A safe bet would be that we won't be as heavy on the 4 by 1 personnel package. More TE's and Zach will be under center more. Which is good close the goal line, last year we had problems finishing drives. Also not sure if we will go no huddle, but would like to see us start to wear down lesser teams in the second half going up tempo.
Not sure what to expect from Missouri State, I really don't know who they have coming back from a team that finished the year really strong. They will have the size edge and we should have the speed edge. We'll see, should be fun.

Cajun,
Missouri State was senior-laden on defense last year. They are a little thinner there this year. So, we need to take advantage of the situation. Their offense should be better with a number of returning starters there. I believe this will be a good game. If we execute and stay healthy we could do well. The X-factor could be weather. If it is 101 degrees and humidity (pretty good chance for that), look for it to take a toll on them since the weather has been relatively cool in Springfield this summer. I hope we are in the driver's seat about mid-way through the third quarter, that would be really sweet!

I would agree with you on the weather factor, but I was at the game last year in Springfield and it was absolutely scorching at kickoff. Misssouri is freaking hot in the summertime. They will be wearing those dark maroon uniforms and baking on that visitor sideline so maybe that will help our cause.

missouristate.247sports.comTHis is the site for the Missouri State fans if anyone is interested. Seem like a pretty respectable group of posters.

www.masseyratings.com/pred.php?s=cf&sub=11605Looks like we're an 11 point underdog at home. Massey's has Missouri State ranked 12th and NSU 58th and is predicting a score of 31-20. We'll see if Mr. Massey and his team are football prophets or not come Thursday night. We're pretty salty at home, but Missouri State will be tough, no doubt.

I can't stand preseason rankings. Expect a well thought-out gameplan from the Demons. Mo State will undoubtedly come out playing cover 4. They traditionally play a "bend-don't-break" style of defense..great redzone defense though. With Norton and Manley at the helm of the Demon offense, expect some heavier personnel's and expect some more shots down the field. Overall, I'll predict a score somewhat similar to last year's Demon victory. 27-21 Demons

That's hard to say. Sources tell me that tomorrow night could break the Turpin Stadium record for lowest attendance. Same sources tell me that Thursday night should be packed to the brim for the season opener.

With it being a weekday game and the students on campus plus it being the season opener, my guess is anywhere around 11-12k. Hard to say, anyone remember first or second year with peveto and we opened up with North Dakota at home and had the stadium packed out??? Then the team looked like sh*t and the season went down the crapper.

I don't remember what year it was, but we played Tarleton State in a home opener and had roughly 14,000 people in the stands. I could see something like this happening tomorrow night. Maybe not 14,000 because it's a Thursday night game, but a good, solid crowd. Like Cajun said ... students are on campus and that will help out tremendously ... and it's an opening game beginning a long holiday weekend with everyone quite hungry for some football. Also, it doesn't interfere with the big LSU game Saturday night in prime time. I could see 10,000 to 12,000 attending, for sure. Anything less than 10,000 would be a wee bit disappointing and anything more than 12,000 would be stellar. Hope the weather cooperates.

It'll be sunny and around 93 degrees at kickoff. Not perfect, but could be a lot worse.

Interesting that they haven't won an OOC game since 2010.
