1. Southeastern Louisiana - Bryan Bennett back, no way these guys aren't picked first. 2. Central Arkansas - Anytime you play a season with a lot of guys hurt and finish as well as they did, you have a solid base returning. 3. McNeese State - Always tough, always talented, can always run the football. 4. Northwestern State - I like what we have coming back. I am kind of getting my hopes up to be honest. Offensive firepower that we haven't had in a long time. Bulking up at LB I expect a better defense as well. 5. Sam Houston - I just have no idea what to expect from them. Lost their 4 year starter at qb and Flanders..we'll see how well they bounce back with a new staff. Still have a lot of stoker recruits, so they are certainly capable of winning it. 6. Abilene Christian - I think they will win some games for sure, very talented. 7. Stephen F Austin - Coaching change, another "not sure what to expect" situation. 8. Lamar- Cards stayed close with some teams last year, could be a year or two away from really competing. Offense needs to get a little more creative. 9. Nicholls - Going off the last 4 years with Stubbs I don't know where else to put them. Will surely give us their A+ as usual. 10. Incarnate Word - this will not be a pleasant year for IWU 11. Houston Baptist - same as ^

Can't argue with any of that. But, I am predicting that one of the top 3 has a down year allowing either Sam or NSU to vie for the title. Championship race should be very tight this year.

Unless Bennett gets hurt and misses some games, I don't see SLU slipping up. McNeese will be breaking in a new qb so we'll see how well they can replace Stroud, regardless he'll have plenty of talent around him. We have Sam and Mcneese at home so hopefully if we take care of business at Turpin it'll give us something to play for going into November.

Southeastern added 4 LSU transfers among others. I don't know how they keep doing this and maintain their APR. They will be tough. Legit talent on both sides of the ball. McNeese will be good as well. We are still a year or so away but they better get us this year because we are getting real salty again. Outstanding recruiting class that came in and with the addition of Coach Lucas who is a terrific coach and recruiter watch out. I smell glory days ahead!

Our APR is better than it's ever been and we led the SLC in football GPA and numbers on the conference honor roll last semester. The JC recruits and FBS transfers Roberts brought in the first year have either already graduated or are on track to graduate in May and most of the group brought in last year are on schedule to graduate in December. We're doing very well academically.

I hope you are right because I love it that the Louisiana schools are back on top, but I have heard from reliable sources inside the program that problems may be on the horizon. its good that the transfers and jucos are graduating but the problem is the large number of kids that have left the program in order to make room for the big signing and transfer classes of the last two years. When they leave without graduating they go against their particular class APR. I'm just saying the real APR problems would not have shown up yet.

For the record, the APR hit happens when a student-athlete leaves school while ineligible. With that said, what "large number of kids" have left our program and/or school, ineligible, over the last couple of years? Sounds like your "reliable sources" are engaged in wishful thinking.

I think you better check your facts but thats ok you are probably right. The person who still works for slu is probably wrong. He does probably hate his job and is hoping the program folds.

He just said he hopes you guys stay on top, sheesh man. You can't deny that bringing in boatloads of transfers CAN sometimes cause problems for FCS schools if its not done carefully.

Wishful thinking? Probably not...you say that as if you guys are a dynasty with multiple SLC trophies and everyone is rooting against you. That is not the case.

First let me say i am happy for SLU's succesd but if a player is released from the program while still eligible and does not transfer he does go against the APR.

Since your opinion can be viewed in a negative way towards SLU then clearly you have no idea what you're talking about lol

I honestly hope it doesn't come back to bite them, but it is something I would be weary of if I were a SLU fan. I really do hope they have continued success, and if it can't be us, I want them to win it.

First let me say i am happy for SLU's succesd but if a player is released from the program while still eligible and does not transfer he does go against the APR. Incorrect. If a student-athlete is no longer a part of the program, but stays in school as a regular student, there's no hit at all as long as he or she remains academically eligible. We have several kids who decided to give up football but are still in school working towards their degrees. If they drop out of school altogether and never return to graduate at a later time, then there would be a partial hit, but the major hit is for athletes who leave school while ineligible (0 for 2's). Walk-ons are not factored in APR.
