Going to be a tough game against Grambling this week. I watched a good part of the game against Tulane and Grambling is a solid team.
Our biggest challenge will be stopping their QB Devante Kincade. He has a pretty good arm and has speed where he can easily pick up a large chunk of yards if the Defense breaks down. Have to keep him in the pocket and get pressure on him.
They have some good speed and athleticism at WR and I expect them to go about 70-30 pass-rush against us. They didn't impress me too much with the running attack, but I think they didn't figure they could run against Tulane's D, which has a solid D line against the rush.
Fritz has Tulane as a primary running team so its hard to guage Gramblings D. They appeared to be solid though and the O will have to bring its A game.
Grambling is well coached and I consider Broderick Fobbs one of the better coaches in FCS. Got to know him when he was at NSU and he is a first class guy. No doubt he will have the G-men ready.
I think we can definitely win on Saturday. Expecting a very good game.

I wasn't in Ruston for the game, but we sounded better on the radio. Defense seemed to be causing some chaos and making plays, while the offense sounded fluid and organized. I'll say up front that I'm not a Kyle Manley fan, so I'm not expecting much throughout the season but I am hoping he proves me wrong. I'd love to see us average 450+ a game regardless of who's leading the charge. Making the trip up to Grambling this week and looking forward to a tough matchup that we can hopefully pull out a W. At least I know I won't be disappointed by the halftime show

I don't know anything about Manley, but he called a heck of a game Saturday night. We dropped 400 yards offense on a team that is "predicted" to win the C-USA Western Division. If they are as good as advertised, we should be able to drop that much and more on several opponents and at least that much on a couple opponents. Barring injuries and apathy setting in, of course. This weekend is huge. We must respect Grambling. And if we play the way we did in Ruston and they play the way they did in New Orleans, we should win the game. But, we'll see. Their QB was recruited by Ole Miss for a reason.

I'll have to say that Manley's offensive play call was great. The offense is light years ahead of last year's offense; many of the same athletes, yet we look unbelievably better. What I saw in Ruston was so much better on both sides of the ball and it was nothing short of amazing. I don't want to sound over-the-top, but I was stunned by how well we played. I think it was a coordinator problem last year, not a talent problem. We aren't at the top by any means, but we have made a lot of head way and may have truly turned over a new leaf. We'll see how it goes, but if we keep folks healthy and continue to improve, we may turn a few heads in the conference.

I really liked our offense. I think we should be able to put up some solid numbers against Grambling. Really seemed night and day compared to last year.
Really excited to see what this weekend brings.

I feel like we have a shot, but this a solid team we are facing and they are extremely well coached and really talented.
Didn't go to Ruston last week, but looking forward to making the trip over to Grambling saturday. The halftime show will be worth the drive at least.

I went to the game. The Brad Laird difference is amazing. Manley really did call a good game. I didn't expect to say this but we are pretty good. I like this team and I think it might have been interesting if Almond doesn't go out with cramps. Tech could not beat Sam Houston. I really thought they would be better than they are. See you at Grambling!

Anything is better than Daryl Daye, only thing he did well was drink beer and threaten to beat up Patrick at the Christmas Party. Still one of my all-time favorite fundraisers. We beat Grambling if that QB doesn't beat us. We watched him in the classic last season and he is special. Doesn't appear Daye has helped as the Dline coach at ETSU, they gave up 200 yards rushing to a DII program. He set us back no doubt.

I don't want to hear about how tough a ranked Grambling team was tonight. Grambling is a SWAC team and that league is terrible. If Grambling had to play anyone legit in the Top 25, they'd be run off the field, as would we. We don't know how to win anymore. We've fumbled and thrown a pick on their side of the field. Our running game has been toothless. We're down 10 points late in the 4th quarter and we're still running a RB averaging 2.5 yards per carry. Our defense has given up almost 450 yards offense to a SWAC offense. And we haven't even put up 300 yards on their defense. That's beyond unacceptable IF you want to return to competing at a high level in the FCS. IF we don't beat Lamar next week at home, this season is lost. Gone! And I won't drive three hours to watch us like I was planning to do this year. I thought Laird showing up would put some pep in our step. Well, so much for that. And, yes, I know the Grambling QB is an Ole Miss transfer. That shouldn't matter. I remember when we went to Oxford and damn near beat Ole Miss, the team, much less a QB transfer. So, I'll be there next week because there are friends I want to see, but if we don't correct this shit soon, I'll stop buying tickets and give some of the ones I have this year away. I've had enough. A gut full. And this isn't emotion typing. This is someone who has many other things he could be doing. And don't say "if you were a true fan you would do this or that." I've been a true fan for life and I'll be a fan until I die, but I don't have to follow the team closely anymore. I'm over this and can do what thousands of others do ... listen via my computer and save my time and money.

Meanwhile, Nicholls has TAMU on the ropes. It's tied 14-14 in the 4th quarter. That's how a Southland team is supposed to compete. Sure, you can't do that every time, but they had UGA on the ropes last year. Should have beaten them. Any of y'all remember what that felt like? To go toe-to-toe with a big team? We've done it many times, but it's been a long time since it's happened. And no, beating La Tech doesn't count. They aren't a big team. Our program is still at rock bottom, boys. Rock ASS bottom and we need to stop sugar coating it.

Totally understand. I appreciate the off-season changes but tonight was ugly.
Barring a major turn around we need a new staff. Thomas just isn't cutting it right now.
This program is a rock bottom right now. No reason for us to lose tonight like we did.

In the grand scheme of life, this means little-to-nothing. With Irma bearing down on the continental U.S. and having already destroyed part of the Caribbean, Harvey knocking Houston around, the Greater Baton Rouge area flood in August of last year, the floods around Bossier last spring and a plethora of other issues, football doesn't mean crap. I'm trying to put life in much more perspective and taking sports for what it is ... entertainment, at best. But, that said, IF we're going to have a football program, why in the world would we put this kind of product on the field for the past 12 years? We have lost to the SWAC 2x, Incarnate Word 2x and damn near to a couple DII teams in the past decade. It's crap. I am not calling for anyone's job, but this has gone on way too long.

I'm with you. I hope Thomas can turn it around. I just want us to correct what needs to be corrected. Hate Seri g us as a bottom feeder.
I'm not calling out to fire anyone but I do want to see us right the ship.
