Call me optimistic (or delusional) but I'm thinking the Demons get their first conference win Saturday night.
It won't be pretty, of course.. but 23-20 Demons. Book it.

I am not as optimistic, however. Just remotely hopeful. And how weird would it be to beat McNeese, a team we haven't beaten in over a decade, in a year where we can't seem to find a way to beat teams we should beat (UIW, Lamar)? Truly bizarre if this happens. I just don't see it right now. Hope I'm wrong.

McNeese may be down, but even on a down year for them and a great year for us I wouldn't feel good about this game. The streak will end, just not this year. I do like your optimism though Demons16.
Pokes roll. 30-14

Really don't even know what to say anymore. McNeese racked up a solid 603 yards of offense on there way to another rout. To make matters worse ACU won today, so now we are in sole possession of last place in the conference. Just unreal.

Cmon guys, we need to get behind this coaching staff more. They need our support now more than ever. Complaining on a message board isn't gonna help matters. ,.......is what I would say if I was a little punk bitch. But I'm demonsmotherfcking16. This is horseshit. Clean the house, please

No way else to put it, we aren't a good team. Very real and disturbing possibility that we finish 1-10.

I didn't get a chance to watch but I followed the score on ESPN...from what I can tell it looks like another stellar performance by the defensive secondary allowing 30 or 40 yard pass plays every other down.

Our last 3 conference games we have given up 539, 561, and 603 yards of offense. I refuse to believe that this is an issue of talent. There are some guys on that side of the ball that can play, this falls on the coaching staff. I thought we couldn't get worse than last years defense and this team is just flat out abysmal. Big plays all over the place, and making it look way too easy.

While I am not necessarily in the business of excuse making, it is worth noting (as we have on the broadcasts) that there are currently 30 players on the injury report: 17 were out for the McNeese game, about half of them for the year. The other 13 were playing hurt in some way, including Jemarcus Marshall who has both an arm and a hand injury and was wearing a cast to his elbow and still snagged an INT. NSU is down 6 CBs total, have just 3 healthy bodies there and is playing two safeties at CB because of the lack of bodies. I am genuinely curious what this team would have looked like with a reasonably healthy roster

I'm just responding, Patrick. Don't take this personally, but I need to get this off my chest.
I was told we had an unprecedented number of injuries by a good friend and loyal NSU alum. I, too, am very loyal, and I will always pull for my alma mater, even though I have some differences with it, at times. But, dammit, at some point, you have to ask yourself "why" this is so unprecedented? We're not doing something right and it's obvious. ALL teams have injuries this time of year. So, at some point you have to ask yourself why a fourth-year coaching staff, at least in-part, namely the head coach, is struggling in such a profound manner? We're going backwards in such an obvious fashion that people are asking me, "What in the hell has happened to NSU football?" I like Jay and I think he's a super guy and I think he is a good football coach, but something isn't clicking and using ANY excuse, no matter how legitimate will not be bought by the fan base. We're surviving in attendance on love of university right now only. It's not because we're winning, obviously. I want nothing more than for Jay and company to figure it out and get this thing turned around and make us a respectable program again. I'll even give Jay the benefit of the doubt that he would have made the playoffs two years ago -- and had a winning season -- but we were straight-up robbed out of a win against SFA. However, these last two years, including this year, have been less than impressive; even downright mysterious as to why NSU can no longer seem to field a decent football team. Our defense has been awful. And too many teams are getting it done in the FCS in smaller towns, so I'm not buying the "you just can't win in Natchitoches anymore." And when I say "getting it done," I mean winning more than losing. So, if the coaching staff will just fess up and say they've screwed up or something, I can live with that and will continue to support the team without any qualms. And I realize Jay came in after a disastrous Peve campaign, but no matter, I've had a gut full of what we've fielded the past eight seasons, sans Jay's first two years. Oh, to be fair to Peve, Jay won't have but about five more wins than him after four years, so that says a lot. Unfortunately.

BTW, Patrick, I didn't get to make the game because of a sick Granny (she raised me), but I made sure my tickets were used and I did listen to the broadcast and you all do a great job. I don't know if you hear that enough, but you do. Thanks.

You see, I always feel bad after being hard on our coaches. They're family, but they have to know the frustration level is high in fan land. I just don't have any answers here. Greg Burke has a hard job when it comes to putting a proper microscope on these situations. Especially when you consider the human factor. I mean, my house flooded in August outside of Baton Rouge and if it weren't for the kindness of many people, some strangers, I would be a lot worse off than I am, so maybe Jay needs time and mercy. Heck, I have no idea. I'm tired of talking about it, really. Goodnight.

Well said Purple Storm. It's always injuries or bad breaks or officiating or no money or... I look at Nicholls and in one year they have turned it around and it makes me sick.

I appreciate the kind words about the broadcast. We try our best to bring a quality professional product to you. As for the rest, trust me, we are all frustrated, none more so that the coaches. You can see the pain and sleepless nights on their faces. It hurts you because they are such good folks. I, like everyone else, hope they can find the formula

It's a tough situation. From a business standpoint, unless we're ready to unleash another 75 to 100k in income for a HC and two times that much to up staff pay overall, we may as well be patient with who we have and trust that if they are working as hard as you say they are and they are as pained about this display of football as everyone else, or even more so, it will get turned around eventually. I hate to see anyone get fired. Makes you wonder where we'd be had we stuck it out with Stoker or Peve? Improved? Worse? Who knows? It's frustrating, though.
