La Tech fans look down on us and have for decades. This isn't a secret. In fact, it's widely known. Personally, I am way over the so-called "rival" between us and accept things as they are. The only rule I keep is no disrespecting us or ours on this board. That is why I reacted to Slappy Cajun the way I did. An overreaction? Maybe. Conversely, what is said on other boards is fair game and none of our business. We finished 6-6 last year. We were so close to a good year, but didn't quite hammer it out. Proof the Southland isn't a pushover conference after all. Now, if the Shreveport Times would cover NSU as well as they do La Tech, the average sports fan would know we finished even two years in a row. BTW, your Bulldogs finished great and had a solid bowl win. I was proud for you all. Life is too short to play sports tribalism games anyway. I mean, it's sports, not life. So, I try to pull for all state schools when possible. I have been attending Tech/Northwestern football games since Robertson was QB. Believe me, I nor anyone I know has ever considered Tech "superior" to Northwestern. Our basketball history is also long. I have never known a Tech person considering ourselves "superior."

Dude, go to www.latechbbb.com and just start reading the comments about how they feel towards and view other La universities. And I say that as someone who's grandfather graduated top of his electrical engineering class from LaTech back in the mid-40's.

To fellow Demons just scroll past this post. I only bring it up because it was discussed on the RaginPagin:
To the ULL fans reading. You can be offended that I said NSU has the better marching band or you can shrug your shoulders and concede that I might actually have some background to make such a statement (hint: I'm not a homer in the stands making subjective opinions based on my rose colored glasses). New director or not, the videos I have seen of the PoA from last year appear to be the same ol' same ol'.
NSU will be much cleaner drill wise and music wise and larger (louder). Will also be more in tune and balanced. The PoA will more than likely be overblown in order to attempt to match the SoN's volume and because of that will not be as clean musically or as in tune.
After the two bands perform their respective shows they'll come together for a nice performance of Amazing Grace in honor of the theater victims.
Don't be mad. You can't win everything.

About 4 min left in the half and about what I figured would happen. Absolutely no rush defense, what has happened to the purple swarm?
21-7 Cajuns. This is just looking too easy for them running the ball.

They make tech fans seem classy which is pretty difficult. I'm sure there are some classy Cajun fans, but all this crap about "tailgaiting" on another level is total horseshit…And they can't fool me because I was once a student at ULL before transferring to NSU. I still remember some of my friends I had there donning their purple and gold and hopping in a car to Baton Rouge on Saturdays. I didn't read this board either before or after our game last year. Your team played very well. I didn't know that Tech fans were "unclassy" on your board. Anyway, I didn't keep up with what NSU did the rest of the year, as I didn't really want to remember our game with you. We were outplayed. How did you finish last year?
I really will be pulling for Northwestern against @ Lafayette. Will the game be televised or on ESPN3?
Thanks
I let a few bad apples ruin it for me. But I suppose that's true for any fan base. Thanks for proving me wrong.

3 straight negative plays there. Very easily could be looking at a 27-7 deficit at the half.

Let's face it boys, we're not good ... yet. Losing Zach Adkins, Imoan Claiborne and Deon Simon was huge and we have not replaced them well ... yet. I am not saying we won't improve as the year goes forward, but right now, we have a lot of work to do. Last year's Demon team would manhandle this year's Demon team. Much like ULL is doing now. I tip my hat to the Cajuns. They are pretty darn good. Now, I do like that we haven't quit and are still fighting. That could bode well later in the year. In the end, we're a year or two away from a potential FCS playoff run. I think. Even so, we have the right man leading the troops. Be patient. Preaching to myself, too.

Total Yards: ULL-294 NSU-165
Cajuns have 223 rushing at the half. Yikes.

I agree purp, this team isn't going to be there for another year or so, I can handle that and I think my expectations for who we are and what we can do are pretty realistic.
However, I cannot accept the fact that this will be the second week in a row that a team has hung 400+ yards rushing on us. We've always been the purple swarm and always were tough to run on the strength of our defense was the front line. its just tough to watch teams running at will over us, and I think will be a recurring theme this season.

It takes a defensive coordinator awhile to make his mark. And Darryl Daye was handed a defense full of youngsters and a LB corps that is still light in the britches. I think we're going to be fine. To think we're going to knock off an FBS team every year is delusional. Although, we should compete with in-state schools no matter what. And we're doing OK. Not terrible, but it's obvious ULL is bigger, faster and just a bit better than us. I do like the sportsmanship I am seeing in the game between the two teams. That's encouraging. I think we have the pieces in place to be a very good FCS program in the future, but we just lost too much last year. I mean, two of our defenders from last year are now with the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Bucs. Zach Adkins was way better than we realized, maybe. Damon Medcafe was a legit DT, Austin Douglas was a superb center, Marion Chapman was a dynamic linebacker and Fred Thomas was a pretty decent CB, too. I'm as cool as a cucumber watching this, though. Realistic expectations make for an enjoyable night. Again, I tip my hat to Coach Hudspeth's team. They are well-coached and not cocky at all. Let's see how we respond in the 2nd-half, though. I hope we keep trying and see what we can do. It will pay off in conference play.

Our defense has a LONG way to go. Their RB, who will play on Sunday's, is dragging our DE's all over the field. We're going to have to outscore our SLC opponents and right now, I'm not sure how much of that we're capable of doing. I think we can have a good running game in conference, but we might not have a QB that can get the ball to our many capable WRs.

Fourth-string QB in the game in the 3rd Qtr. Jay is serious about finding out which guy can lead the team. I look for Hazlewood and Rivers to get the snaps next weekend in Starkville. I think that's smart because we won't run the ball for many yards up that way. Not this year.

I know it's hard to see positives in a butt thumping, but I have seen a few tonight. On our level, it's hard to just reload. We have to build up and it's obvious that we maybe under performed just a wee bit last year because we had the talent to go places in the FCS playoffs. I mean, we beat Sam Houston and LaTech. It will take a couple years to build back up to that kind of team again. And let's give ULL credit. They are pretty darn good and proof that they're good is Kentucky is whipping South Carolina right now.
