The word I am getting is that we can expect an announcement of a new coach soon, as in next week, but hopefully no later than Thanksgiving. I have no clue as to who, just that the water is stirring in the coaching pool. Buckle up, it could be a fast ride soon.

That’s great to hear. Hoping for the best fit and for this thing to get turned around.

Interesting! I wonder if it's a D-III or D-II guy looking to move up and make a name for himself, an FCS guy looking to move over for a new challenge and change of view, or a former FBS guy who just misses the game? I have often thought with our geography -- Louisiana and Central Mississippi skill players with East Texas and Southern Arkansas lineman and linebackers -- why we haven't done better than we have? We sit in a rich recruiting area and in what I thought was a safe place for young people to get a quality education. All this has been greatly challenged with our lack of success the past 15 years and recent tragic events.

As I watch Nicholls win another championship I began to think about the past few successful coaches in the conference and where they came from.
Rebowe for Nicholls was secondary coach at ULL if I’m not mistaken Scelfo for SLU was the OC at UTSA Morris who turned UIW into what they are was OC at Tx Tech GJ Kinne was also an OC who came from UCF Guys like Fritz and Ron Roberts came into the southland after being successful at the D2 level. Also several guys who have been hired from the d2 level that haven’t worked out: Dorell at ACU, Mcneese and SFA went that route as well and it doesn’t seem to be working so far for either one. These are just the examples I can think of at the moment, point being both routes seem to work out and not work out. We need a solid hire here, if our conference in state brethren can hire well and bring in coaches that make them competitive, so can we.
HCU and Lamar seem to be much improved with their hires but I’d have to do some digging at where they came from, I think the Lamar coach was really successful at an FCS school in Connecticut.

It's been two weeks since this thread was started and we still have no new football coach. Maybe that's because the Thanksgiving holiday has delayed the announcement?

Yes because season isn’t over for a lot of schools. Playoffs at all levels still on going.

I'm hearing it could be someone from the Nicholls staff.

If it's Tommy Rybacki...I like the move. Young, energetic coach.

Rumor mill is definitely churning. Should be coming to an end soon. I am leaning towards the idea of a young D2/D3 guy with some fire ready to prove himself.

Expect an announcement in the next few days. I also love the idea of a d2 or d3 coach who has turned a program around. We have not gone that route since steve roberts.
