Well its time to face off against Jay's old squad again. Nicholls has had a decent year and seem to be building something on the bayou. Two programs heading in different directions it seems. I'm hopeful that we retain the trophy, but realistically not expecting it. The run game seems to have potential and if we have another game like Lamar where we rush for 300+ plus then who knows. Colonels looked nasty up front against Georgia so Haack will have to hit some throws and maybe getting Blumenthal back can help us throw some option in there. This will be the last time I'll be able to see the demons in person so i'm praying they string some stops together and get a win this saturday.

Really would like us to win but just not seeing it. I've honestly lost all faith in this coaching staff turning this program around. I just hope we have a shot at the end of the game.

Thus far, their Freshman QB is outperforming our 5th-year Senior QB. That's coaching and game planning. It's because of this that I gave my tickets away last week, this week and will give them away for the SHSU game, as well. And I will continue to do so until we put a decent product on the field. I'm out until these coaches figure it out or we get a new coaching staff. Peace.

It's sad when your Senior players start throwing play books and turning them into confetti on the sidelines.

Our situation is equal to a car that has had a blowout. In this scenario, it seems like it took forever for us to be able to ease the car over to the side of the road safely and smartly. In this scenario, our spare is flat and/or our jack won't work correctly and we are totally stranded. To top it off, our cell service is poor and/or our cell battery is dead, so we have to rely on a Good Samaritan to stop by and help us. Even so, we and this Good Samaritan get our car going again by patching our spare and airing it up by hand. I mean, it's an imperfect scenario, but necessary to get off the side of the road. This kind gesture from the Good Samaritan only lasts a little while, but allowed us to barely make our way to a local tire store in search of a longer-term solution. Now, this tire store is in business for a reason and knows we're in a bad way, so they charge us double, but it's worth it because we are back on the road again and are thankful for the lessons learned along the way. Lessons we will never, ever repeat, hopefully. This scenario is exactly where we are in our football program. Only, we've not quite made it to the tire store just yet.

If I must explain: Our program has had a blowout (Peveto's tenure). Our admin steered the car to the side of the road, but struggled finding a HC. We were turned down by several coaches, for whatever reason. Along comes a Good Samaritan (Jay Thomas) and he helped us get our car off the side of the road for a couple seasons, but we're now finding out after the past couple seasons that we need to get the car (our program) to a tire store (coaching arena) because what the Good Samaritan did for us is no longer effective. The tire store knows we're in a bind and if we choose to buy a new tire (new coach), it's going to cost us, but if we choose to make that move, we'll get back on the road again (more competitive, winning program) and will hopefully learn our lesson from the past decade or so. I thought this parable/story/scenario/analogy was better than teeing off and making the situation personal.

I love it that 16 people are viewing, but only a few are commenting. That means there are several people peeking in enjoying the fact that our program is just not good. Let that sink in because we're making a lot of people happy with our past decade of inept football. In fact, we've had eight losing seasons out of the past eleven. And two of those non-losing seasons were even. So, we've had one winning season in the past eleven, and that was 7-5. That's bad.

I'm with ya man. I was excited about Jay after his second year when we had a shot to go to the playoffs and got robbed at SFA.. had big hopes for last year and it was terrible. This year is surprisingly even worse. I called for his job after we lost the home opener to Incarnate Word and caught some backlash for it.. yet here we are, 1-7. By the way, I learned today that Incarnate Word has one win all season. Anyways, I'm not claiming to have the answer, because I don't. But I think it's safe to say that the current regime we have now isn't cutting it and we need something new.

Done. Clean house. End of story.
If nicholls can turn their dumpster fire around with a new coach so can we...we just have to find the right one.

I don't see how we don't make a change now. It's one thing to have bad luck but it is totally another to not be even remotely competitive in conference play.
I like Thomas but it just isn't working. Wouldn't surprise me if we don't make a move Monday. I honestly don't see a good reason to wait. Time to move on and get a proven coach.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Jay is under contract through next season and we are under no position to buy out the remaining year. We will have to wait this out through next season unless he does the right thing and resigns. Or someone with some really deep pockets steps up and funds his buyout. It sucks but thats our reality, these coaches are going to run this program even further into the ground before we can do something about it.
