UCA awaits. And they will want and need a win very badly. Will be another tough game. But, that's the Southland!!!

Whoever doesn't take this team seriously is just delusional. We're literally three plays away from being 6-1. Those three plays are the fumble going into the end zone (one yard line) to take a 31-7 lead on Missouri State. Their coach admitted that would have iced the game. And a pick six and blocked field goal at SLU. I am not sure how this season will end up, but I am sure that Jay Thomas' personality and coaching style is starting to show in our team. The future is bright. The Demons are definitely a team to take seriously though don't get too carried away. You are also a handful of plays away from getting blown by SLU and losing to both La Tech and Sam Houston. As I recall Tech turned the ball over twice late and SLU fumbled a punt inside their 10 up 30-8 which opened the door. SHSU also turned it over late while driving with the lead. It goes both ways and tends to average out.

We left 16 points on the field at SLU. That's why we were getting blown out. Two blocked field goals, one blocked extra point, got to the one-foot line on one trip in the red zone and inside the red zone again and threw four picks, two that set them up for easy points, one for a TD and one to seal the game. We throttled SLU's offense. They had 235 yards for the game. We shot ourselves in the foot over and over again, but SLU's defense had a lot to do with that, too. We also left at least 12 points on the field against Sam and aided them in their two second-half field goals with short fields. We could have had over 40 points in that game. Never should have lost the Missouri State game, either. Now, we caught some breaks at La Tech, no doubt. So, not getting carried away, but those are just lamentable facts. Now, the best teams won those games. Missouri State and SLU did what they had to do to win. They deserved the victories. Sam could have put us away, but they didn't. It all washes out in the end. We're just happy our team seems to be coming out of this near-decade long funk. Do we think we're the best team in the conference? No. Do I think we will beat UCA? I have no idea. They are very good and deserve as much respect as we can conjure. I know there is still work to be done to get our team where we want and need to be. But, the way we're playing now is a vast improvement over the Peveto era. Nothing against Bradley Dale, but I'm glad he's doing well at LSU and we have Jay Thomas.

SLU Observer, thanks for keeping us in check, though. Nothing attractive about fans who get ahead of themselves and start reaching for the moon when they have hardly lifted off the ground.

SLU Observer, thanks for keeping us in check, though. Nothing attractive about fans who get ahead of themselves and start reaching for the moon when they have hardly lifted off the ground. No problem. Just pointing out that fans tend to view games as if everything revolves around what their team does or doesn't do and rarely take into consideration the opponent. Sam Houston fans are sitting back kicking themselves for giving up on the running game and turning the ball over late. They feel they should have blown the Demons out. They don't recognize the adjustments the Demons made to shut down the running game, just that they gave up on it. La Tech fans feel they didn't show up after a big win over ULL and gave the game away. I even saw comments on the Tech board that there was a conspiracy to throw the game because their A.D. is a Demon grad. SLU fans feel they should have won by a larger margin had they not fumbled the punt or allowed the Demons to fake a punt for a second time to keep a scoring drive going. You mentioned you left 16 points on the field and throttled their offense. Lion fans will say they forced those turnovers and blocked kicks and scored on 5 of their last 6 drives, including 3 of 4 drives in the 2nd half, only running 20 plays. I do think Northwestern is in a good place right now in regards to making the playoffs. UCA will be tough on the road but I like their chances of beating McNeese at home. 8-4 with an FBS win and a head to head over the Cowboys should be enough for the committee. Run the table the rest of the way and it's a no brainer.

Thanks. You make some great points and I appreciate the compliments of our team. However, I'm going to take this one game at a time. I am not even thinking playoffs. If that happens, I'll enjoy it then. If not, I'm just going to enjoy watching a much improved NSU football team until the season is over. You know, that smell the roses view of it all.

Uh, I made a whopping 2 or 3 posts. I'll chill whenever the hell I feel like it. By your own confession you are pessimistic and said we looked like dog shit and were awful. He has a point. Let's at least wait till the final result before bashing our guys. We didn't play awesome and but these kids are busting their ass for all 4 quarters and learning to win meaningful games. Everyone is entitled to type what they want though so you can chill whenever you want like you said, we're all rooting for the same team here. Lets just leave it at that. On to UCA. THAT'S BECAUSE AT THE TIME WE DID LOOK AWFUL AND LIKE DOGSHIT! I AM GOING TO CONTINUE TO POST WHATEVER THE HELL I THINK! YOU PEOPLE ARE NOT GOING TO STOP ME OR DETURE THAT! PUT ME ON IGNORE AND BE DONE!
