I think we can win this game IF the thrill of beating La Tech has subsided and we play very well. IF the Ruston thrill is still hanging around and we don't play well, SLU is plenty good enough to send us home bruised and battered. If this game were in Natchitoches, I'd like our chances a lot more. Hammond is a tough place to win with an average SLU team as the opponent (as we all know, they are far from average), so it's going to take a special effort, one like we had in Ruston to pull this one off. Should be a heck of a game and one that will probably come down to the 4th Quarter to decide a winner. IF ...

This is a critical game for our season if we hope to reach that 8 win mark and maybe get an at-large bid to the playoffs or have to something more to play for in november. SLU is obviously a very strong team and has speed and talent galore, but as evidence last year we can certainly play with them. We learned to finish a game two weeks ago in Ruston, and when this team can start finishing games consistently, look out…

This is a rather frustrating game to watch….I don't know how many ways a team can shoot themselves in the foot but we are masters at that right now. SLU even seems flat and we can't take advantage.
Another pick by zach...

6-0 Lions at the break after what seems like a foiled FG fake or bad snap?…couldn't tell.

Great start to the second half. pick 6 by Adkins...that's what happens when you dink and dunk all day.

I am at the game. When you throw three picks, one for a pick-six, get two field goals and an extra-point blocked and almost give up a kickoff return, you're going to lose to most teams. Those mistakes resulted in 21 point swing. We got six back from them just now. That is a 15 point difference. We are down by 16. Mistakes count. Bottom line is they are just better than us. We are a better team, but still have a ways to go. We left our offense in Ruston, which was something I was afraid of happening. We celebrated the LaTech win WAY too long. And that has bitten us in the butt today. Plain and simple. Our offensive play calling is not good today, too. Just one of those games. It just looks a bit ugly when you have them against good teams. We'll be OK. Future is bright for the long term.

Well said. Just seems like this team is very good at leaving points out on the field…especially in back to back years vs this SLU team. Coach Lucas called a hell of a game against his former team holding them to 235 total yards of offense and containing Bennett for most of the day. Just didn't catch the big breaks. Would like to see Southeastern run the table again, as for us it's on to Incarnate Word and what should be a fun homecoming weekend in Natchitoches.

We're going to be fine. I doubt Adkins throws four picks again in any game and if our defense plays remotely that well the rest of the year, we could/should finish with a winning record. Think about it, we just held a Top 10 offense in FCS to 235 yards for the whole game. That's beyond stellar from our defense. Offense had a rough day, yet still had a shot at the end to possibly score and go for the tie and send the game into OT. Again, the future is bright for NSU football. Congrats to SLU on the win. Whoever beats them will have to do it without beating themselves first ... because they're good enough to make you pay for it. In the end, this game could sting "just" enough to make use try even harder.

It will go a long way in teaching our young team that you have to play complete games in our conference to win consistently. If we ever put our first half Missouri State and our second half La Tech then we have a dangerous team. This type of game can for sure be used as a teaching moment and will help us win some games down the road.

I love this team. Scrappy as can be and tough as nails. If you want to know how close we are ... imagine this fact -- we are only three plays away from being 4-1 and those being the fumble going into the end zone to take a 30-7 lead on Missouri State, the pick six today and one of the the two blocked field goals today. Truly a game of inches. Did I mention the future is bright? :-)

I was pleased with the way we fought. If we put it together we can definitely win out.
I fully expect McNeese to knock off SLU. If that happens and we win out by virtue of the SLC tie-breaker rules (Assuming NSU, SLU and McNeese are tied) we would be SLC champs.
Really proud of the Demons tonight.

I agree with all of you. I was there and we are going to be ok. We have a good football team that is very well coached. Coach Lucas changed up our defensive scheme a bit and playing a lot of zone coverage since the Baylor game. Great move by Coach Lucas as it has been very successful. We are very fast in pursuit to the ball and good solid tacklers. But most of all these young men will battle you to the last second of the last quarter. Still had a chance to tie this game up in the last 1:30 after failing to score with a first and goal at the half yard line, throwing a pick on their 15 yard line, having two field goals blocked and dropping a sure touchdown pass in the first quarter. Bottom line is we didn't win and SLU did, but it won't be long until we will be winning this games. I feel very good about where we are headed.
