Demons starting out slow, but have surged back to take 38-35 lead at the half. Game is on espn3.

We're sloppy as hell when we have a lead. We were up by 18. Now we're up by six.

True dat...I didn't realize the game was on ESPN3 until the last 3:00...but from what I could tell from the stat tracker our 2nd wave let our comfortable lead slip away. Credit SLU for making the shots down the stretch and not quitting...making the game closer than it looked like it was going to be.

Very sloppy, but held on for the win. Went scoreless for a good 5 minutes and still put up 88.

First of all, I am glad we won and any win on the road is a GREAT win.
Three observations about this team:
1. They can be as good as they choose to be. They have that much God-given talent. There is not ONE team in this conference that can stop them when they play determined for 40 minutes. Not even SFA. 2. They're overconfident and because of this they commit too many turnovers and they allow leads to dissipate way too easily. They don't have that "go for the kill" mentality that NSU squads have had in the past. Why? I have no idea. 3. Their defense leaves a LOT to be desired when they have a decent to significant lead. It was solid at 70-54 and then we just fell asleep. SLU outscored us 30-17 down the stretch. Baffling.
This combination will NOT win the SLC tournament. The overconfidence has to be thrown out the window and the defensive intensity must stay at a high level the WHOLE game. Especially when two opposing players hit ten of sixteen three's. If this were one game, no biggie, but opposing teams have been doing this to us all season. It's our defense or lack thereof in some form or fashion. At some point when a team is lighting it up from behind the arc, we have to get in their face to try to disrupt their shots.
In the end, it's truly up these men as to whether they want to dance again or not. If they really want it, we'll be a part of March Madness again. If they don't, we'll be knocked out early in Katy. It's obvious Coach McConathy has figured out the right nuances and combinations and has put them in place to be successful. But, he can't play the game(s) for them. If anyone takes this other than constructive and hopeful criticism, you've completely misread my intentions or I've failed to communicate properly. Fork'em.
