Considering all the circumstances, kids from last years team haven’t taken snaps since what? Mid October? Along with personell changes, completely different scheme and system, it’s gonna take a while.

It appears to me McCorkle is more of a program builder from the ground up. He’s not gonna Deion this thing by bringing in transfers and building through the portal. This is not gonna be a quick rebuild. But trajectory matters, discipline matters, and bringing in the right kind of players. This (in my opinion) is needed now at NSU more than ever.

The right coach is in place. He's a hard worker, he's humble, which isn't common in football coaching these days. Oft times it's false humility, coachspeak, and a hint of narcissism, or at least a bushell full of overconfidence. I find he is patient, as well. I guess you have to be during a rebuild. NSU fans need to be patient with him. I think this rebuild will take 2-4 years.

I worry that the next season or two may be pretty tough. There's not much experience or depth showing on the roster right now. But hopefully we will be able to attract, and retain, enough good players to turn things around in a couple years. I dream of what Turpin Stadium could look like on Saturdays if we could become a regular in the playoffs and top 25. We Demon fans are starving for sustained success. Hopefully I will live to see it happen.

Pretty much anything will be better than where we have been the past 15 years, save two-three seasons. Change has been needed for a long, long time. No condemnation on the coaches who didn't succeed for whatever reason. Everyone has talents, but theirs just didn't gel with the needs of NSU. We fired a coach who had dynamic potential but was immature, hired one filled with hubris, another who was solid, but ready to retire quicker than we realized, and another who is a great position coach and coordinator, but out of his depth as a head coach in D-I FCS. Now we have a D-III guy at the helm. He isn't immature, he has no hubris that I can sense, he's not ready to retire, and he isn't out of his depth because he has done it already. All this said, we'll be lucky to win 2-3 games this season. Four at the most.

I wasn’t at the scrimmage, but read the articles about it. Those that were there, was it that bad?
I am generally not a fan of trying to read into anything with intersquad scrimmages.. when the offense looks good, I wonder whether that means the defense is suspect and vice versa.

I will be at the Delaney Bowl and The Demon Brothers crawfish boil Saturday. I believe we made a very good choice for our head coach and can't wait to meet him.

The roster is as thin as Canadian coffee. That said, there's some talent on it. It will be interesting to see who leaves after spring and who is added from the transfer portal. I know this coach doesn't like the transfer portal, but this year, he may not have a choice.

I know this coach doesn't like the transfer portal, but this year, he may not have a choice. Absolutely, as much as it pains me to say it, he will need to be ready to use the portal. The portal and NIL is the death-nail of college athletics as we once knew it, but if he is going to try and put together a program going forward, he needs to use the portal. There is no longer any loyalty, team commitment in college athletics. Players are going to go where they can play immediately and/or make the most money. They are looking for their way to 'the League'. Most of our better talent is in the portal or gone, so Coach McCorkle will need to start paying attention to the portal lists, even though he only wanted to use it for grad transfers, etc.
