While I have always been a huge fan of Coach McConathy as a basketball coach and human being, huge kudos must be given to Coach Gipson and his first year squad. He and the players have done an unbelievable job in what should have been a transition season. This group of players and coaches seem very tight-knit, at least from a distance. They don't make excuses, which I like. Coach Gipson and his staff set the tone by not allowing excuses. Because of this, the players just get up and try again. J. Black and D. Sharp are leading them well as seniors. There is talent up and down the roster. The Enmanuel kid is as brave and talented as they come and his mentality has enveloped the whole team. Maybe the team would have been as tough without him, but I am glad he is a part of the team to show the world that being filled with excuses is a weak way to live. Good luck to these boys and coaches the rest of the way. They have been inspirational.

Very tough stretch coming up with back to back games vs Commerce and SLU again. 20 wins is attainable in my opinion. Its really nice to see us competitive again in a major sport. Very grateful for what Coach Gipson has done in such a short period of time.

I have been negative about NSU athletics for awhile. How could anyone not be? We have been terrible on so many levels. This team is getting my attention, however, with their blue collar, hardworking, and gritty efforts. I like the head coach. He seems real, speaks directly using some basketball lingo, and doesn't speak around issues in "coach speak" like so many others do. It's refreshing. Good luck down the stretch. Great job players and coaches.

Looking good for a championship season and more than 20 wins. More importantly, the players and coaching staff are coming together very well as a team and understand they must continue to work together and selflessly for the team and the program to succeed. Big test this Thursday against SLU. Home court means home fans as well, so students and fans need to show up and be loud. FORK EM and come out strong on the floor and in the stands.

My prediction is that we will get a new head coach next year if we win a conference championship. I love our OC, but Coach Gipson is going to be drawing lots of interest from bigger programs this offseason. Enjoy this moment while it is here.

Disappointing loss Saturday night versus UNO. It did not appear it was a lack of effort but lack of execution of the offense. They can only succeed consistently if they continue their great effort on both offense and defense but not devolve into a single dimension one-on one offense. Take it to them Demons.

Southland Tournament just around the corner but this Wednesday's game versus IWU is our dress rehearsal to work out final issues, to gain confidence, and prepare mentally for the big moment to come. FORK EM DEMONS AND LEAVE NO DOUBT.

I hope we win today, but we've lost to TAMU-CC 2x already this season. No matter what, this has been a refreshing season compared to the last eight or nine. Winning 22 games is success, even if we win 23 and go to the Dance. Still, the mark set by Coach McConathy is very high with his 2006 squad only a few baskets away from the Sweet 16. Good luck to the team.

Looks like we fell short. The best team won. They beat us three times in three games this year. Hats off. NSU had a great season. If you told me we would be 22-11 and playing a right game for a spot in the NCAA tournament, I would have taken it. I hope Coach Gipson hangs out a few years and continues to build on this success.
