Big news today coming from the southland conference commissioner that the season will processed as scheduled.
The SWAC has announced they will not play in the fall leaving us with an open date on October 3rd. Bummer.
Also watching closely if the American conference goes to conference only which would leave us without our payday game at Tulsa and be pretty financially devastating. If this does happen maybe we could snag a game with a SEC team who had to drop one...we picked up Oklahoma state in 2001 after 9/11 so there’s hope we could still get a game where we could get cut a check.
Also we were picked [10th in the preseason poll (Ouch)

How long until the Southland reverses direction and cancels our season? The rumblings have begun. With the Big Sky Conference now out, playoffs are already over.

Who knows. I wouldn’t be surprised.
This is getting ridiculous.
Well it’s been ridiculous but I digress.
The ramifications of canceling the season at our level will be devastating. Many will not recover. I hope the ncaa understands that before it decimates the sport.

Not surprised, but I’m gonna need some explaining on this decision. Incredibly disappointed in the conference, school presidents, and ADs.

I guess they are listening to lawyers more than medical personnel. Truth is, a zero risk scenario simply does not exist, EVER. Maybe a trip to Natchitoches in the Spring can take in a baseball game, a basketball game, Lady Demon Tennis, and a football game. A perfect Demon Day.

It deeply saddens me on multiple levels. Obviously the fact that the games won’t be played is a huge blow but it’s just indicative of our current society. We neglect to look at statistics and data on an overall scope and choose to cherry pick the anecdote and outlier to channel our rage and fear. These kids are safer in this controlled environment of the football program and while risk is a part of daily life, we can’t let it determine decisions with such massive ramifications. Football is a very dangerous game by itself, there is immense risk in strapping on a helmet. I was on the field with someone who lowered his head and was partially paralyzed. I have permanent knee damage and many players have staples and rods in there body because of it. Do they regret playing? Of course not. They still play, it’s a choice left to the player and family. There’s always an ambulance in the stadium for a reason. We can’t cower away from this thing and hope it goes away, life goes on and I’m tired of this virus and the fear of others restricting my freedom. The cure can’t be worse than the virus itself. Almost every sports league is playing along with high school football in many states. The university is open along with the cafeteria, dorms, and classrooms, so there goes the legality of the decision.
Other conference members like UCA and HBU are still playing some non conference games and getting paid to do so, there is ZERO reason for us to not find a few games as well. Shit, we just turned down a 400k check with Tulsa. How stupid is that? There is a golf tournament this weekend and I know for a fact a lot of prominent alumni and supporters will demand answers.

Anybody know what the plan is for the schools like NSU who pushed football to 2021. Who do we play and what are we playing for, a Southland East Trophy?

As far as I know, the entire conference could play in the spring. SFA can't compete in postseason, but everyone else should be good to go. We'll see what actually happens.
