Is this the week we finally crack the win column? It will be very tough. The last time we played in San Antonio we got manhandled. I like that we haven't quit, though.

We’ll win a game when we play an entire game. We can roll up a ton of big plays and yards in 1.5-2 quarters but just haven’t put together a full game all year. UIW is very good again, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility for us to win this game.

Outstanding!!! This might sound odd coming from an alum and fan of a team that is 1-7, but this team never quits. They just keep plowing. The coaches have done a great job in keeping these guys motivated. That's can't be easy when you're winless. UIW is a pretty good football team, too, so this isn't just a "first" win. It's a "big" win. Too bad we couldn't have sneaked by UCA last week, too. Great job players and coaches. I'm very proud of you and this effort.

I know I was quite frustrated earlier in the season, but that's because my expectations for the team were set pretty high from some in the know. Not blaming them at all as they honestly thought we'd have 6-8 wins this year. All that aside, I'm as happy about this win as any we've had. I realize it's just temporary salve, but I'll take it. Here's to winning out. Not sure we can accomplish it, but I think the team and coaches probably think we can and that's all that matters.

Im with you on the frustration, I don’t think it’s absurd that we had reasonable expectations for the year.
We beat a top 25 team and it is very possible for us to compete with every single team we have left on the schedule.

It's going to be interesting to see how we react after a win. McNeese isn't as good as in the past, but they are still McNeese and we haven't won in Lake Charles in about 30 years or so. Plus, the Cowboys have improved since their slow start. Based on how the team has showed grit in every game, I think we'll do our best and compete hard. We'll see what happens.

Good Evening everyone! I was at today's game as my fraternity brother's son is the starting left tackle for UIW. Here are my takeaways from the game:
1. For the 1st half of football, this team did not blink and allow a potent offense from UIW to gain traction. This is proof that the youth on defense is starting to grow up and I truly expect next year for our defense to carry us a bit as we will have a new QB and receivers to throw to.
2. The 2nd half INT for TD could have broken this team down because afterward UIW drives down the field and it's 31-16, but there was still no quit even after another stop by the UIW defense.
3. The game changed with the muffed punt by UIW and NSU made it 31-23 quickly. When I say the air went out of UIW, it did and our coaches made awesome adjustments to what UIW was doing not only on offense but defense. A man cover 2 was often the call for UIW and the out routes were there for the taking.
4. The final drive, we are down 38-30 and the composure of Shelton Eppler, WOW! JUST WOW! Gets stripped, picks the ball up calmly, and fires a touchdown pass to Tanner Ash. As I'm watching, I watched several shoulders slump on the UIW sidelines as they had flashbacks of what happens to them last year against Lamar. The perfect two-point conversion call to Akile Davis and we are tied.
5. A huge stop by the defense in overtime to force a FG and by then I think UIW realized they were dead in the water. Forced offsides and a hot route to Shorts and it's ball game!
This team could have gotten down, but getting back to the Demons of old "The Purple Swarm" and forcing turnovers has shown me that we are growing and it was only a matter of time for our team to put together 4 quarters of football. This team the last 3 weeks have shown no quit, so the coaches still have some form of control and respect. These last 4 games are an important stepping stone for next year. The offense will definitely put up points, but the defense has shown they have the ability to stand-up. This game was tough for me because I found myself rooting for Terence Hickman II (UIW) and my alma mater. Great game! Great win for the Demons!
