Can’t say I know anything about UT Martin but I do like getting a home and home with another FCS opponent. They finished 2-9 last season and were picked to finish 6th in the preseason Ohio valley conference poll.
The big question mark for me at least, is whether we can improve at all defensively. We gave up 6 yards a play last year and I’m hoping another season and offseason under the same DC will lead to some improvement.
Despite having to replace most of our receivers I am much less worried about the offense, Eppler was one of the top passers in fcs statistically and I think another year under smiley will lead to some better offensive outputs.

First scrimmage tomorrow. I will be interested to see how it looks. One thing that I have heard from everyone on both sides of the ball is how disruptive the new defensive scheme has been so far in camp. Doesn't mean it will be into the season, but the new scheme is drawing a ton of praise so far from the defensive AND offensive guys.

That’s good to hear, let us know how they look.
For the past 15 years or so I’ve tried to check my excitement but I do feel good about this season. If the conference as a whole wasn’t getting so dang good I would feel a lot better.

Lot of guys out with minor things, mostly precautionary. Defense had 8 sacks, Valsin looked great coming off the edge (3 sacks). But when the first team was together and Eppler was at the helm, the offense moved the ball. Lot of things that were positive

Hopefully those out can get patched up and will be good to go in a few weeks. Great to hear, wish i lived closer so i could check in on them, but thanks for the report!

UTM is much better than last years record. Need to show up ready tonight.
Very interested in seeing our line on both sides of the ball.

Heard there’s some injuries to key players on our side as well.

Eppler is lighting it up so far but only a 6pt lead. Good freaking God can we get a kicker in my lifetime. That’s 4 points the kicking game has cost us. Unbelievable.
Offense looks very dynamic and defense tightened up after giving up two big plays for touchdowns. Encouraging so far but should be up by way more than 6. Epp is 28-35 for 285 at halftime. Transfer tight ends look great and quan is doing what he does. Would be big if we can get a stop out of the gates in the second half.

I'm encouraged by what I see. Best we have looked on offense since Nall was under center. Need our kicking game to step up.

These special teams miscues are back breaking. They’ve adjusted, and we haven’t it seems like. Credit to UTM.

And now a pick 6.....This is insanely frustrating.

Totally out coached. Embarrassing. No reason to punt with under 4 minutes and down 15. Absolutely gutless by our coaching staff.
Not trying to be negative but I'm tired of seeing this crap and we were absolutely out-coached and out-classed in the second half.
Same song and dance, different year.

Losing is getting old. Doesn’t get any easier next week either.
