Yikes that midwestern state game will be far from a gimme. They are always stacked.

No gimmes at all on the schedule. That LSU game happens right before SLC play so hopefully we can come out of that game injury free and with pockets full of money.

I’m pretty sure they’ve attempted to apply for southland membership as well so they will be ready to play no doubt.

Strangely enough, my interest is perked by that match-up with UT-Martin. They are in a rival FCS conference that we have played few opponents from and this is kinda like breaking new ground. I have always wanted to return to being able to play schools from other FCS conferences. I can remember playing Elon, Gardner Webb, Illinois State, Northern Iowa, U of N. Dakota, UC-Davis, etc. Those were interesting match-ups and were tough opponents. I know the state of our economy and funding doesn't allow for that a whole lot anymore. We are looking for 'money games' to supplement the athletic budget. So, it's nice to see us pick up an opponent from the Ohio Valley Conference.

Those UNI and North Dakota State games back in the early 2000's were something I'd rather forget. I remember that first time going up to the Fargo Dome when Davon Vinson was QB and in the first few minutes of the game it looked like we were gonna maul the Bison but that game turned QUICK and for the worse lol

I’ve noticed we are only playing one “money game” now compared to the past. Pretty sure it’s been at least a few years since NSU has played multiple games for cash. Everyone in the Southland pretty much plays one money game I think. Like you I’m all for more FCS opponents.

It just depends on how many conference games we have to play. Ideally I’d like to play a fbs sun belt or conference USA level team we have a chance of beating, a money game that pays around 500k that’s SEC/BIG12 and then a home and home with an fcs team.
I do like that north Texas game in 2021. Right in my backyard, and the Tulsa game is only a 3.5 hour drive.
