Seems like ever since our last good team in 2012(?) when we played UF in the NCAA tourney the program has really been lacking consistency from year to year...ESPECIALLY the past couple years with players coming for only a year and then leaving...and we're left with players not developing through the system. This year is no exception...probably the most talented kid on the roster last season left to go to a junior college. This all after last year's personnel disaster.
What is the deal? Am I wrong? Just seems that we just aren't a very good program the past 3 or 4 years.

The program has always had some attrition, but it definitely seems to have picked up of late. Minutes are pretty much guaranteed in the wave system, and first year guys often get PT. But maybe guys don’t want to share the spotlight, or maybe a guy can’t handle the academics, or maybe family issues necessitate the move. There’s lots of reasons; the most important thing is to determine why and consider it going forward.
Constant roster churn does nothing but bad for continuity, but you can’t do anything about the whims of teenagers.

I agree. And most programs have attrition and ours always has...but it's gotten to be a big problem the past 3 or so seasons. Czar Perry could've been a huge impact player this year but after going AWOL last season for the first half of the season he's officially gone.

Really bad loss to ULM tonight. I can see some promise on the team but a long way to go to be competitive.

Lady Demons and Demons start SLC play both 0-1 after nicholls gets the Wednesday night sweep.
Our once top of the conference basketball teams are now lower half teams. I understand what's happened with the womens team after James Smith retired (aside from the wife/husband duo) but the more puzzling part is what the mens team has now become the past 3, now 4 seasons.

I’m beginning to think that playing so many money games is a detriment to a constantly churning roster that struggles to develop chemistry. The games in West Texas are killers, and the team that seems to be constantly rebuilding can lose confidence.
I get that there has to be a certain number of money games, but 3/4 of the non-conference schedule is a bit much. I’m not suggesting the program load up on SWAC schools (though playing one of the LA schools and one from either Mississippi or Texas is not a bad idea). The program is in the position of not being able to schedule like level programs who want the same things NSU does.
If I were doing the scheduling I’d do whatever it took to get games with Tulane, ULL, Arkansas Little Rock, UTSA, UT Arlington, Texas Rio Grande, Troy State, and the aforementioned SWAC schools, do one or two money games in the region. Keep one lower level state foe (not a big fan of these games in all honesty, and 3 in one year is too many).
I’m not sure the patience is there to do another kiddie corps roster (Mitchell, Spencer, Wallace, Lee, Allen) but I think that’s what the program needs. That group had continuity, which the program has lacked.

Or maybe we just aren't doing as good of a job coaching up and developing our recruits. Seems like there's also been a culture change amongst the players. Our best potential player (Czar Perry) isn't even on the team or at NSU anymore. He was the kind of player that could really change a game because of his speed and scoring ability. It's not gonna be this season but I really hope Coach Mike can put together one last good team before he hangs up the whistle.

Great win tonight. Tough loss against Nichols and great win tonight. There's hope for this team. Win tonight could be the confidence booster they need. We'll see.

Brian White is the catalyst for a great team!

I agree on Brian. Kid should start. Brings a skillset that no other guards on the team currently have.

Another tough win tonight. Team should actually be 3-1 in the conference. Not pretty BUT they are getting it done.

Great to see! Seems like they’re playing much better than earlier in the season. Always great when we beat sfa.
Fork em!

SFA isn't the SFA of a few years ago but still a solid team and a big win as our W's against them the past few years have been few and far between.

As I said before, they are a different team, when Brian White is on the court. The offense is more productive.
