From everything that I have heard the McConathy and his staff is coming back for another year. Glad the AD is giving him another year as he deserves. That being said............I'm a realest and understand that this is a "what have you done for me lately" position. This team doesn't loose much since Jalen and Demonte left early during the season. It's going to be important that the young guys take the next step. At various times in the season I've liked what I've seen from freshman CJ, Czar, Big Larry and Darian. If these guys can take that next step along with vets like Ish, DeAndre and Malik this team should finish in the top 8. I mean the last two games of the season they competing nicely w/o Sweeney. And considering that he and Lazare were the only seniors the future looks good. That being said everyone has to come back. In this day in age of everyone transferring hopefully the guys will see the big picture and come back.

Jeff Moore, assistant coach, Northwestern State: This would be a fitting pick for McNeese if only because it would be the second time Moore replaced Simmons for a position in his career.
When Simmons left his assistant job at NSU 12 seasons ago, Moore replaced Simmons, and he’s been with the Demons ever since.
When Moore’s name surfaced, it wasn’t exactly met with as much excitement as Cordaro, and that largely has to do with how much the Demons have struggled as of late.
That’s understandable considering they went 4-24 this season, but you can’t ignore the fact they were missing their best player, Jalan West, who suffered a season-ending injury.
Moore has recruiting ties throughout the state. He’s also a local boy. Hailing from Lake Arthur, Moore’s father Wilbert C. “Nooky” Moore spent 33 years coaching basketball in Louisiana, including a stint as an assistant to Ralph Ward at McNeese.
He likes an up-tempo style of play, which makes him a solid fit for the Cowboys’ current roster, and he has the potential to be a recruiting draw beyond the borders of Southwest Louisiana.
Moore would be far from a bad pickup. He’s an experienced coach with a pedigree and connections to the area and McNeese.

Moore is a solid coach, would hate to lose him.
Really glad Coach Mac and company are getting another chance. Despite the last few seasons I believe he can still build a winner over in Natchitoches. Have some good solid young players on the team coming back.

Thanks for the read. Coach Moore would be a big loss BUT it would definitely be a great move for him. @trackdemon...........I agree. A lot of good young pieces coming back. Just hope these young guys see the big picture and don't decide to transfer. With the exception of a couple of games (away game at SFA and home game against SELU) these guys really competed and showed that if they can make that jump they should be able to finish in the top 8 next season.

The problem with our youngsters is that there's not a culture of winning above them...there's not older players to mentor that have played for SLC titles or in SLC championship games. There's not older guys to push them that will make them better. SFA keeps breeding quality teams not necessarily because of who they're recruiting or who the coach is but because the guys who have experience at the next level know what it takes to get there and they're going to make the underclassmen better by playing against them in practice. That's what worries me about our youngsters.

NSU really needs to make a tourney run this year to help rebuild the culture that used to be here. SFA has built the perfect templent for a Southland school.

Yeah I would agree that they have to make a tourney run. IMO coaches have to make some adjustments. Seemed like at the beginning of the year they were trying to be an up and down team (like in previous years) despite the poor shooting. The WAVE system works when you are one of the type scoring teams in the Nation. However this team was one of the worse shooting teams in DI so no need for the WAVE. Play your best. Seemed like towards the end of the year adjustments were made and the team played much better. Team is gonna need Ish to be a 1st team All Conference player along with those freshman taking the next steps. DeAndre Love is also gonna be important. Team has pieces to compete so it's going to be interesting.
