We drop a tough one in 12 innings to ULL where we struck out 20 times. We have 81 strikeouts in 7 ball games and still should be 4-2 at worst. When young players adjust to college pitchers and older guys get going , we will win many games. Until then it will be frustrating with the opportunities we have had early to score runs so far

Really bad week at Kansas/K-State. On the plus side we are hitting much better than last year. Once the pitching comes around we should be solid.

It's bizzaro world...NSU used to be nipping at the heals right behind ULL and LSU/Tulane and LaTech was the joke of La baseball...the switch started when JP Davis was coach and we've now been leap frogged by the Dawgs.

We are also getting destroyed in the facilities race in this state. La Tech has done major renovations to their baseball facility as has SLU, Nichols, and Mcneese. Our facilities have great potential but at this time our facilities are the worst in the conference. That is unacceptable and it's difficult to recruit really well under those circumstances. I do think we have some promising freshman on this team so hopefully Barbier can get us to the levels we need to be at both on the field and with facilities. Our athletic director has been here forever and sometimes I really wonder how important it is to advance our programs.

I think we definitely need a major investment overhauling our facilities.
We aren't that far behind and really should have won both the Nicholls and Ark State series. On the downside OK State is going to be a very tough trip for a team that needs some wins and momentum.

Agree totally. We are making a ton of mistakes and giving away outs and at bats, yet still are on the cusp of winning those close games. This week will be tough but hopefully we can compete well and gain confidence heading back to conference the following week.

Maybe not, but Nichols is 9-6 so far with a win over ULL and a close loss at LSU. They have invested big money into their baseball program with a 2 million dollar upgrade and it is paying off with more south Louisiana players interested in going there. Same thing happening at SLU and La Tech as I mentioned in post above. The commitment is yielding results at all 3 of those schools. Can anyone show me where our athletic administration is committed to advancing our programs. I don't see it. Yes it was never good to lose to Nichols or Tech but things change when a program commits to it.

I agree...not sure where nicholls got the money but we'll always have much fewer dollars than SLU and Tech.

Had nothing to do with their athletic administration. At SLU former player and now major leaguer Wade Miley gave them a boatload of money for their new turf. And at LaTech money grows on trees.

Well maybe a local state legislator can make the same plea for us. The fact that we have a single toilet that is not even handicap accessible and a concession stand that is basically an ice chest is a problem. How about chair back seats like the new ones just installed at the football stadium. The potential is great and the list of needs is long but nothing has really been done to upgrade Brown Stroud field in a while. I know Coach Barbier has the plans for a locker room with concession stand and bathrooms in the right field corner where the cages are so hopefully alumni and supporters can step up and make this happen sooner rather then later. That would be a good first step in upgrading and catching up with the conference.

Most of us are nurses or teachers (my wife, myself and my parents included).
