Former DC Brad Laird will return and take over for Darryl Daye as defensive coordinator/associate head coach. Brad is a demon through and through and I think should've been offered the job back when Peveto was let go, but thats just my two cents. Its a safe bet he will assume the HC job when Thomas is not renewed after next season.

That is a pretty accurate statement, Laird is being brought in to make the transition to the next head coach. It was something Dr. Webb and Maggio and Laird discussed after Laird quit football so that he wouldn't have to be a part of the "Peveto Purge". Laird made the move to administration and then transitioned back to take over for his dad. The football program was a mess after Peveto. They had a huge loan, the academics was a mess, the players were thugs, the locker room and equipment were a joke. Laird did not want it after Peveto. Actually heard from people talking that Thomas was begged to take it because the 5 or 6 people offered the job in front of him said "NOOOOOOO!" as they ran out of town. Jay's whole purpose and this may have been discussed with him and it may have not been was to fix it up and get it turned around and then Laird can come in to take over. Laird actually turned down Jay after Lucas left for ULL. He was the first call when Lucas said he was leaving. Laird told a few that he couldn't take the pay cut for starters and having beat La Tech felt like Jay was going to hold that seat for a while. I was rooting for Jay, but he was the sacrificial lamb to bridge the gap. Did anyone bother to tell him?
