This season is mercifully almost over. Let me be clear, this season cannot be salvaged saturday with a win. After the nsudemons.com articles praising our one quarter effort against Sam last week I have no doubt that a win saturday we would "save the season" according to Thomas and the Sports information department. Makes me sick to my stomach that we praise that effort when they hung 41 points in a half and is the absolute most frustrating part of this whole thing. Thomas is delusional, he will make no staff changes whatsoever and in one year we will be right back here again, making excuses instead of looking in the mirror for the reason of why we are so bad. Anyway, SFA is all but quit after getting beat by HBU last week so theres a chance we could win and retain the chief but who knows.

Hooray for everyone, jay Thomas can give the whole team participation trophies. Doug Ireland is just doing his job of trying to put lipstick on a pig. Pathetic is a massive understatement to describe this season but, hope springs eternal and when are here this time next year looking at another sub-500 season it will be our version of groundhog day, without the humor.

Jay has to clean house. Offensively this has been the most piss poor season I've ever witnessed. I've never seen a offense stall like we have.. Ever! And Defensively, well we've seen the catastrophe the past two seasons. Bring in some young coaches who can recruit their asses off and coach their asses off.

You're absolutely correct, but I wouldn't bet on that happening. Daye isn't going anywhere and I don't see Jay getting rid of Norton either.

If Jay, Daye and Company truly have another year on a contract, a trip to the playoffs should be the MINIMUM expectation from the administration, fans, players and the coaches. If not, we screwed Peveto over because Jay only has three more wins than Peve in four years. And we especially screwed Stoker over because he had more success than both coaches -- Peve and Jay -- put together ... in a year less than they have had to succeed. Expectations have to rise exponentially in order for exponential success to settle in on the program again. No excuses anymore!!! Too many young coaches out there looking for an opportunity to move up that can get the job done. Again ... no @#$%&*! excuses. Get the job done or move on to something else and allow someone to come in that can do the job. Period.

What is the administration saying if it keeps Thomas, Daye and their staff? The players aren't important and don't matter. Watching the players on the field makes it obvious that they are not being coached and prepared well for the games. Six players being suspended for academic reasons and failed drug tests shows that the coaches are not being responsible with their duties. The student body, alumni, and community don't deserve to cheer for and support a good team. The record speaks for itself. Recruiting isn't important. I know three players personally that we are recruiting that have completely dismissed NSU as one of thier options because of our current record and culture. Donations are not a priority. People have already started saying that they are going to stop making donations. Attendance is not a priority. It has gone down as the season has progressed even though our opponents are bringing more of their fans. Our own fan base is dwindling. By the end of the third quarter of our games there are only a handful of our fans and they are visably and vocally not happy and supportive. I've heard numerous ticket holders say they won't buy tickets next year if a change is not made. Winning is not important. If it was changes should have already been made. Not holding the coaches accountable is promoting a lazy and complacent atmosphere. Which means losing. Once again I'm NOT saying the coaches are bad people. Just saying that they are doing a poor job. Changes are a no brainer by now, but does the administration really care?

I can't disagree with anything you said James, fact of the matter is that we extended Jay's contract and now we can't afford a buyout. So we have to accept reality and get through this nightmare for another year and hope for 2018 to be the year this thing starts to change trajectory. If we don't hire another retread or coach who has never won as a head coach as we've done the past 3 times. Which we aren't even sure will happen.

I just don't want to hear any excuses. We're terrible. We were terrible before all the "injuries" and worse after them. It's the second-worse or maybe the worse display of football I've EVER seen as an NSU fan. Now, does this mean the players are bad? Not at all! So, the problem lies elsewhere. It's coaching when Stoker goes 7-5 and has 18 or 19 starters back and gets fired and Peveto, with his hot air guarantee, takes that same group and goes 0-11 the following year. It's coaching when Jay takes Peve's dynamo recruits and beats La Tech! That was a good win that we enjoyed WAY TOO LONG and Jay took credit for it ... and rightfully so. He did a great job that night and that season, really. Conversely, we must take the good with the bad, right? I mean, that's life. That being said, Jay should be a big boy and accept heavier-than-normal criticism because Peve's dynamo recruits are gone and his (Jay's) "team -- in his fourth year, the year he's supposed to be great -- might be the worst team in NSU history. I hate it for him because he's a super nice guy, but we're bad and there's no getting around that fact other than admitting it straight away. There's just no other way to look at this scenario. So, next year it should be ... playoffs or goodbye!

The first time you allow lack of accountability, it's because of compassion. But, everytime after, it's due to lack of conviction.

If that is all true they need to shit-can all of them. Problem is Dr. Henderson leaving us in his wake just as things on the university side are starting to pick up.

I've been saying it all season and I guess I'll say it one more time...but our defensive secondary is the worst in all of football-dom.

Can't fault the players today, shows a lot of heart and played their butts off. As it has been the entire season we simply had no gameplan to stop SFA.
All on coaching. Hopefully there is a way that we aren't seeing that allows us to hire a new coach because another year of this will be dreadful. The players deserve better.

I heard from someone involved with the team that he returned to the sideline in the 2nd half walking and wearing a neck brace.

He was back after halftime. He got taken to the hospital right after the injury and returned shortly thereafter. Apparently he was knocked unconscious and they were worried it was more severe.
