Didn't catch the first Lamar drive, but I watched ours. Looked like we have a good run game. Able to get 3 points so at least we have a lead.

First of all, congratulations to Lamar. They deserved to win because they simply wanted it more. Secondly, our running game was stellar for 3.5 quarters. Our passing game was non-existent for whatever reason. However, coaches don't get paid to coach for 3.5 quarters. They get paid to coach for four quarters, obviously. Jay and company failed to do that tonight. Now, if this were one game out of 11 and we were winning more often, I'd just say it was one of those football anomalies that happen to every team. But, we haven't beaten a Division I opponent all year and we failed miserably in closing out this game. But, we deserved to lose because we had no passing game, we missed two FGs and we couldn't run the clock out or cover an on-side kick. Succeeding in one of those five areas would have won the game for us. Just ONE. I've waxed and waned about our coaches for a year-and-a-half now. I like Jay because he's a super nice guy who is trustworthy, so I've often given him the benefit of the doubt. But, this isn't cutting it. Tonight was a massive coaching failure. Period. Losing isn't the problem. I didn't think we'd be this close tonight and I thought Lamar would beat us by a couple TDs, minimum. But, when you have a 13 point lead with less than five minutes left, you have to figure out a way to win the game. This is as bad a mark against this coaching staff as any game we've played this year or last ... including losing two years in a row to UIW.

No worries. In the end, it's just sports and means little-to-nothing in the grand scheme of things. I'm already over it and I trust those in power at NSU to make the right decision for the program at the proper time. They see nuances we don't, so I leave that up to them and spend my energies on other things. Who knows, Jay and company could win every game left save Sam Houston? Then what? We're obviously playing better, but we're just not good enough yet. We shall see.

Don't leave out our defensive backfield...as soon as Lamar started throwing the ball this game was over. The only way we could prevent them from catching the ball is to commit pass interference.

Man.. I thought I'd get over it and get used to the losses. I've been saying it since we lost the home opener to UIW, but it seems to be as clear as ever now: something has got to be done about the coaching.
I have my own personal opinions on what those changes should be, but I'm not the man in charge. Should it be coordinators? Should it be the head man? I'll leave that up to Burke, but what on earth are we gonna do? Something has to happen right? Surely I'm not the only one that feels like this..
I'm sick of watching our guys trot out there and get out-coached game after game. At Lamar, we're up 6 and score in the 4th.. Why do we not go for two to make it a 14 point game? What difference is there between a 12 point lead and a 13 point lead when there is only 6 minutes left? Nothing.. but a 14 point lead is enormous. That's basic football yet, of course, seems as though our fearless leader has no grasp of it.
This program is too proud to bend over and take this. Can we not afford the buy-out? Someone please give me an answer. I'm begging here.

Hey, Demon Fans... Im an LU alum, former player, and fan. I didn't stop by to be an a-hole. I wanted to see what y'all's take aways were after last night's game. First if all...I have been impressed with your teams since we've been playing back in the SLC after we brought our program back... But I've never been as impressed with your guys more than I was last night. Y'all have some incredible talent on your team and for you to be winless in conference in baffling. Your defensive line is one of the most talented and nasty that I've ever seen. Those dudes are studs. Again...no way in HELL should y'all be winless. Even though we are 4-1 in SLC play now... Neither one of our teams should be where they are right now. I'll be the first to say that y'all should have won that game and it was a fluke that we did.
I certainly don't see us beating Central Arkansas next week. Our coaches are on thin ice this season and sounds like y'all's are, too. Let's all day a prayer to the coach hiring gods that we'll both end up with someone that's going to make us all happy Cardinals and Demons. I know I'm tired of floundering in mediocrity (and always seeing SHSU at the top. Love seeing McNeese tank this season!😊)
Good luck the rest of the season!

I really think the better and more deserving team won last night, just happened in a heartbreaking fashion for us and Im sure a thrilling way for the home team fans. Good luck as well on the remainder of the season.

Someone please give me an answer. I'm begging here. You're definitely not the only one. We're all thinking it, you just said it. We're stuck with Thomas through next season. Greg gave him an extension after year one. No way we can buyout or anything of that nature. He will be our head coach until the end of the '17 unless he resigns.

Geez, through next season?? I'm not sure if I can take another 5 games of this disaster! Unreal. We'll be lucky to beat Abilene and go 2-9 this season.

I'm of the opinion that we need some major changes to the program. Not saying I expect us to be conference champions every year but I believe we should be competing for conference championships on a yearly basis.
As of now we are considered by many as a bad football program that has almost no respect left. I hate to see our program fall to this level because we have a great tradition and still have a pretty damn good fan base showing up for every game despite it all.

I agree Trackdemon, I don't think anyone on here who is a demon through and through expects us to be a sam houston one day and totally dominate the conference every year. I do think and reasonably expect us to field a team every 3 years or so that is in contention for a conference championship and annually plays with the top teams in conference in a somewhat competitive fashion. That is not being unrealistic in any way as fans and supporters. One winning season (2008, 7-5) in the past ten years is just not where this program should be and there are loyal people that will not continue to support and contribute if this keeps up. No doubt it can be turned around in a short term, like we see at nicholls, so I'm remaining hopeful. If im being honest in my gut I don't see Jay being the guy that will do that.
