Not a bad opening drive there! Shake Ryan and Ronald Green could have a big game.

First time I've seen us play...secondary looks bad.
And is every player on SLU's team a freaking transfer?! I know we have a few but damn...every name the TV guys mention is also in the same breath as adding that they played somewhere in the FBS before coming to SLU.

1/3 of their roster is a transfer of some kind. But I guess whatever works...

Effing terrible...this is exactly why I don't go to watch the games anymore and won't watch the rest of this one. We're a one step forward, two steps back kind of team.

Meanwhile, SFA appears to be back and is whooping ACU. Nicholls is beating South Alabama. Mcneese is destroying Incarnate Word. UCA is hanging with Arkansas St. and Sam is about to kill HBU. Not feeling confident in the rest of the season..

I just told a fellow alum who does not comment on this board that "I will always love NSU ... always ... but I have fallen out of love with NSU football." I live 45 minutes from Strawberry Stadium and never considered even going to this game tonight. That's quite unlike me. First game I've missed in Hammond in awhile. In the end, I see talent on our team, but we're poorly coached in many areas and it's more than obvious. I mean, the coaches are coaching up the players and they are executing in-part, but the players aren't fully coached up enough. QB's should never just toss the ball up for grabs ... ever. And RB's should always guard from being stripped from behind on long runs. This is elementary football coached in Pop Warner leagues. Our DB's are lost. I'm sorry, there's just no sugar coating it. We're just not a good football team right now and until we all admit it -- fans already know, so I'm speaking of admin, coaches and players -- and find a way to compete toe-to-toe with the best in our conference again, I refuse to go watch us play anywhere on the road. And the only reason I go to Natchitoches now is to see old friends. I don't even make all the home games anymore. And, again, that's unlike me. SLU isn't that great, boys. But, they're much better than us right now at the little things and that's why they're winning.

I like Jay a lot. I thought Peve was a great guy, too. But, if Scott Stoker had never been fired, we wouldn't be here scratching our heads over eight-straight winless seasons and wondering what it's going to take for us to get out of this deep hole we've dug for ourselves. Some might disagree and that's OK.

Some might disagree and that's OK. Dude, I LITERALLY, not 5 minutes ago told a friend of mine via Facebook messenger that, and I prefaced it by saying "I never thought I would ever in my life say this" but the firing of Scott Stoker is probably the worst thing that could've happened to our program. He may have been the only thing holding the damn thing together. Unfortunately, I also mentioned that I fear our program is in a place that we'll never see it recover from...not with our resources, locations, etc.

We should have been patient with Scott and allowed him to grow up at NSU. It was a mistake to fire him in my humble opinion. He and his staff went 7-5 in his last season and had 18 starters coming back for the next one. Was Scott cocky and a jerk sometimes? Sure. But, he was quite young to be a head coach and I think we've all been there and made those youthful mistakes. What's done is done, though. Right now, Jay is our guy and I just hope he can right our sinking ship because we're taking on a lot of water right now!

Stoker was never anything less than kind and professional to me. I always felt that he was pressed by the outside responsibilities of being a coach, which unfortunately go with the territory.
But that's the past; let's buckle up an blow their doors off. Geaux Demons!

Scott was always kind to me, too. I'm just going on what was said as to why he was let go. If what you say is true, I bet those who "pressured from the outside" are regretting it.

Defense had issues stopping the pass earlier...now we can't stop the run.
