I think it was the plan all along to promote Barbier once Burroughs left. He loves NSU and hopefully does a great job. I know money is limited but I really hope we do some facility upgrades pretty soon and stay on par the rest of the conference . Time to hang so more championship banners in Natty!

Interesting read with a lot of input from Coach Cohen at Mississippi State (former Demon baseball coach). SEC head coach and college world series runner up, mind you. Notice he echoed my sentiments on it being a lateral move regarding the level of competition. www.thenewsstar.com/story/sports/college/louisiana-tech/2016/06/21/they-not-lose-step-former-colleagues-players-weigh-burroughs-hire/86183696/Ill copy and paste a paragraph from the article. "I’m going to be arrogant here and say I don’t think it’s necessarily, in terms of competitiveness, I don’t see it as a step up in terms of what Lane is going to have to do in terms of responsibilities and everything else, and I don’t think it’s a step up in terms of a style of baseball," Cohen said. "Sometimes in life you have to look for new challenges and you have to ask yourself and take care of your family and make decisions based on your family. "In some ways, and not fully, and I’m not saying this to insult any Louisiana Tech people, but in some ways I’m saying it’s a lateral move but a new challenge that I know Lane is craving."

Hahaha!!! Well said Coach Cohen!! I thought tech was too good to hire our coaches...well it looks like the tech job is a stepping stone too. Ask Goff. So Tech and Northwestern are both stepping stones....Are you just now realizing this. Goff went from making 140k to 450k, who would pass that up? Lane making 95k to 150k(I think). If Lane is successful, he will be here 2-4 years. If your new current head coach is successful and a college with more financial resources offers to increase his pay by 50-100%, he is gone. You can look at it from a positive light, if another school hires your coach away, that means you are winning, and that is great. We have lost our last 2 football coaches, 1 basketball coach recently, those programs were winning when they left. I hope you guys are very successful in baseball. It helps all Louisiana colleges. Unknown to the folks in Baton Rouge, there are other colleges in the state besides LSU.

There are plans in the works to upgrade parts of BStro...adding restrooms and a few other things.

And as expected those dickweeds on the Tech board are up in arms because Coach Cohen didn't fall over himself to say how fantastic Tech is...they have a slightly stronger program RECENTLY but they think that makes up for everything that took place the 20 years before.

Really glad Bobby is leading our program, I think it will be an upgrade.
Also really glad Tech fans are pissed off, very egotistical fan base.

There is a pathetic sense of false identity that they suffer from, and I will never understand why they think so highly of themselves. You'd think the ass kicking we gave them in football would bring them back to reality.

Someone on their message board sincerely posted that "I can't understand why people have such a hatred for us...not just a dislike but a real hatred and not just towards the school but it also seems personal".
The comments after that reiterated exactly why people hate them. I used to not give two shits about LaTech, that is until I started reading their message board and saw all of the HATEFUL and holier than thou opinions they have about other schools and PEOPLE that graduate from other schools.
Answer: People hate LaTech BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE AND HOW THEY ACT! There's a difference in being proud of your alma mater and taking it to a whole other level, like they do. One of our own professors in the business dept. is a Techie and a Demon and in the past has trashed NSU and makes snide remarks concerning the people of NSU and Natchitoches. The sad part is that a lot of them probably have friends that went to all different universities and would never say such things in public...but when they get on LaTechBBB their true colors show. Something akin to people who hide behind white hoods.
I hate saying that, too. My late grandfather was a proud LaTech graduate...#1 in his Electrical Engineering class back in the 40's. He NEVER spoke in the manner that those people do.

I love NSU but it is clear that Tech has left us behind in many ways. Their campus is now leaps and bounds more beautiful. Their student population is a way above ours. Their leadership is well beyond. Their financial management has put them far beyond.
I live in Natchitoches and think it is a shame what the school has become.
The ULS board gave us a junior college president and that is what we are becoming

I could not disagree with the assessment of NSU more. The current president is getting degree programs like a terminal degree in nursing and others back where they belong at NSU. The spirit and excitement I find when I visit campus is higher than recent years. All I can say about Tech grads is they make better than average employees. Go Demons. Class of 77.
