Good coach who got us back on track, but never lived up to his personal goals for the team. If we hire well, we'll be fine. Frankly, we should have done a lot more this year than we did and that had him soul searching (his words) and wondering if he could meet his goals in Natchitoches (not that he will in Ruston, but he'll be making more money). We were close this year, though. How close? You be the judge -- we beat Arizona at their place and they're in the winner's bracket in Omaha. We also beat Cal-State Bakersfield, who knocked off UCSB and their at Omaha, too.

He did a good job...we are in a good place. We just need a good coach.

I'm just sick of losing coaches to effing LaTech...seems intentional.
Not saying Burroughs isn't a good coach but I'm sure, playing in CUSA, had a few as good or maybe better than Burroughs.

Competition wise its a lateral move, I know they can pay more, but I think this will benefit us in the long run. I talked to a former player and agreed that it was good for NSU baseball that lane was elsewhere and Burroughs was always thinking next step. Which of course he will do at tech as well, and if successful, move on in a heartbeat.

Any idea who the candidates are to replace Lane. Will we promote Barbier or look outside??

What are they pay differences like between the two positions?

Yeah cause D1 and D1AA are totally the same thing FBS and FCS, formerly DI and DIAA, is a designation only for football. NSU and Tech compete for the SAME baseball National Championship...just as Tech and LSU compete for the SAME baseball national title. If football mattered in this scenario then Cal State Fullerton, UCSB, Coastal Carolina, etc. wouldn't even have a shot at the NCAA tournament. But I'm guessing you're a Techie, and therefore "brilliant beyond measure", you should have known the above info.

Northwestern State is as Division I in every sport, save football, where there is an FCS/FBS designation (1-A and 1-AA designations are gone, by the way), as La Tech or LSU, for that matter (only we don't try to emulate LSU ... we know our place). It kills you Tech boys to readily admit this, but it's a fact, so suck it up. You're not any better than we are buddy and everyone in the state knows it, but y'all. You just have a little more money than we do. BTW, when are y'all going to get tired of pissing into the wind at that special "D-1" status? I am around LSU fans all the time and they laugh hilariously at your attempted "D-1" prowess (delusion). Enjoy Coach Burroughs because he'll be poached by someone else in three or four years.

Promoting Barbier to head coach. I know Bobby was a fantastic player for NSU...I'm just concerned because he "seems" to be a little wet behind the ears still. Don't want another Jennifer Graff situation to unfold just when the baseball program is getting back on track after JP's reign.

You know, one of the greatest sports slogans in the world to me is from the Southampton F.C. Saints in England. Whether the team wins or loses; whether they lose a coach or a player; whether they finish high in the Premier League and make European competition, the fans are unmoved by anything, good or bad. Their slogan is simple -- "We March On!" So, congrats to Mr. Barbier. I wish you the best! May we find some of what the Southampton fans have some day. Preaching to myself, too.
