Okay, so here is the deal. I do not really celebrate Halloween, 'cause it just doesn't really make sense to me to celebrate something that every person should hate: death. I don't believe in luck, coincidence, chance, karma, etc., etc., etc., 'cause they just don't exist in an ordered universe created by a good God. I know that the consequences of living in a sin-soaked world mean that we will experience a broken ecosystem with tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, etc. But after all of this, it is still amazing to me that whenever the Demons go down to Thibodaux, weird stuff happens. This year, we get the privilege of playing in a 'hurrican-ater', in front of people dressed in Halloween costumes, go figure?

Our mascot is a "demon." We shouldn't be surprised anytime the spirit world, Halloween, the weather and an opponent whose fans like to cast gris-gris spells on their opponents all line up. I have been begging and pleading for a decade or more to change to a more palatable and marketable mascot in order to exponentially grow athletically. After having been lampooned and lambasted about even considering such a change of tradition, I gave up. So, we made our bed, time to go lay in it. Hopefully we will play as well as we have the past two weeks and can get another win under our belt and hopefully we can avoid the curse of the Rougaroux.

This game is a "must win"...last place isn't going to do any good for recruiting.

After getting up 21-7 we can't do anything to stop shitty nicholls on offense.

21-14 at the half. We've had some defensive injuries. Defense played well getting some TO's and holding nicholls in check but total opposite in the 2nd quarter.
Gotta figure out how to get the passing game going to keep scoring and hold the lead or we're dead to rights.

What a mind-numbing football game! Even so, we're fortunate to get a win today and here are the reasons why:
1. We were a one-win team no matter how well we've played in October. 2. We expended a ton of energy in a tough loss to McNeese last week. 3. We were playing Nicholls State on the road in front of about 1,500 people ... on Halloween. 4. Our defense is still not very good -- I mean, better, but a long way to go. 5. Inclement weather on top of playing in Thibodaux; a place we often start our own figurative dumpster fires.
So, I'm grateful for the win. Period. On to Abilene ... who just gave McNeese all they wanted today! Later.
