And Southeastern is eliminated. I would personally like to thank the Southland Conference for once again screwing over its best teams.

SLU will still most likely get an at-large because of their record.
It's depressing to think how our program history and stature among collegiate baseball programs would have been changed had we not screwed the pooch over the past 23 years... would would the baseball program look like today.
Realistically, with as many SLC titles as we've had and winning seasons, you would think that would have translated into 6 NCAA appearances, which would have increased the chances of NSU pulling off a regional upset and advancing to a super regional. But for whatever reasons, we've missed out on having those opportunities because of the NSU SLC tournament curse.

I think SLU may miss out. Tulane is right on the edge of the bubble right now and they will probably get in before SLU.
I've always wondered where our program would be is some of those teams in the 90's would have gotten a chance. I honestly belief that 1998 team had a legit chance to make a run towards Omaha.

Good luck to HBU. They have done in two seasons what we haven't done in almost 20.

Good luck to HBU. They have done in two seasons what we haven't done in almost 20. It really is amazing to think. HBU wins the SLC tournament their first year to make the tournament...NSU, after 9 SLC titles, 19 SLC tournament appearances since 1993; Has won the SLC tournament never.

Doesn't matter, no SLC team has ever even come close to Omaha. I don't think any SLC has even come "truly" close to winning a regional under the regional/super regional format. If so (can't remember), they were manhandled in a super regional. HBU will be no different. O-2 and a ticket home. So, until we can conjure up a team that can make some true noise and possibly win a regional and go contend in a super regional, it's for little more than pride. I will take where we are over where we have been, though.

Tournament play is a waste of time and a joke for conferences who fit the FCS prototype. The only reason for tournament play is to benefit the bigger conferences and make someone's pocketbook erupt. If they would eliminate tournament play (and the NCAA won't, too much money and politics at stake), folks would actually see the best teams in a playoff bracket. Of course, this would mean that mid-major and smaller conferences would actually have a shot to upset some of the big boys and they would instantly have a stroke or aneurysm as a result....Ok, rant over, have a good day.
