Our mid-week pitching needs work. Truly a weak spot for this baseball team. Lack of pitching depth will hurt us in the SLC tourney, for sure.

Yep. We have three work-horse pitchers...which Coach Burroughs even hinted that "I know LaTech is a rivalry game and all but we're gonna get some of our inexperienced pitchers some mound time with the tournament coming up". So as pissed as I am with this result because it's LaTech and because in a weekend series we would beat them 2 games to 1 I'm not at all surprised with the result after watching the interview the other day.
BUT, you're exactly right...you need more than just three pitchers to win the SLC tournament, much less if you're lucky enough to make it to a regional. Our mid-week games ALL season have been a weak spot because of our lack of pitching depth past our weekend starters.
I'd really like to see us sweep nicholls this weekend.

I'll take this season and last year over where we have been several years prior. Improvement is obvious and it takes time to get back to the top of the mountain. But, we must face the facts that we still have some weak spots. It happens. I think we'll be bad to the bone in a couple years, though. We only need four more wins to match last season's win total, which is attainable.

Interesting. I would have thought that we would have already eclipsed last year's win total. We just seem like a better team. I guess it's those mid-week games that have kept us from already doing it this season.
