Bottom line -- SFA is BETTER than us. Significantly better this year! They have beaten us six times in a row. Last year by an average of eight points, this year by an average of 16 points. Unless we learn to play defense and find an inside presence, this won't change. They are the plumb line in the SLC now. Our guards scored 67 of our 79 points tonight. That says it all. Yes, Frazier did his best, but it wasn't enough down low. They killed us on the boards and the difference in the game was second-chance points. Good luck to the Lumberjacks as they have more than proven they are the SLC's best program over the past two seasons. As for next year, West, Thompson and Woodley should have assured starting spots. Everything else should be up for grabs. We have a chance to be very good next year. But, if we don't improve our defense and rebounding, it will be the same as the past two years as we bow out in the SLC tourney. What a shame when you have two dynamos like West and Woodley, too. All in all, a solid season, but we can only wonder what could have been had we been able to put a Clifton Lee, Jermaine Spencer, Trey Gilder, DeQuan Hicks or James Hulbin in the lineup to help Frazier. Hopefully Yancy, Lane and Koontz can provide that next season.

I don't think anyone disagrees they have a better team...but that doesn't mean I have to like it!!! I can hate every part about it! lol
I would have really liked to have seen what this team could've done if Frazier hadn't gotten hurt and Deji didn't miss the first 14 games of the season.

SFa is definitely better than us right now but I believe the gap is close enough that we can turn that around in one season with some improvements. Definitely need a low post player to step up.

I am not sure if I read this right, but I think NSU is going to participate in the CIT tournament. If true, it is a nice reward for a solid season for our boys.

We can crush the gap between us and SFA next season. It's just going to take fixing our woes of poor defending and a lack of big guys down low. I am sure Coach Mike understands this and knows what it will take to fix it. Our guards/swingmen are great. We're just not complete and, ironically, the big men we do have who played injured or half the year are all gone next year. It's a looming and critical issue for us, no doubt. And Jalan West deserves the help so he can get back to the dance once more before he leaves.

Well, good news is LaTech lost...so that takes the sting of the Demons away...a little. Bearkats trailing TAMUCC early... Attachments:

La Tech will make the NIT. They're pretty darn good, too. It doesn't matter who wins out of Sam and TAMU-CC ... SFA isn't going to lose. They're too good.

Tech is good but I think had we played later in the season we would have won at home. All the Tech faithful had their tickets already punched to the NCAA after ODU got upset yesterday...but UAB had other plans.
I fully anticipate SFA getting the conference bid...but I hope they get embarrassed. I'm a sore loser...so shoot me.

Pretty cool that we are hosting the CIT first round. I can definitely see some huge crowds coming out if we can start advancing far.
Didn't know Tech had lost, that's quite funny. Wouldn't be surprised to see a Tech-LSU NIT matchup.

I will be pulling for SFA. They will represent the SLC, which has been getting better and better in basketball, football and baseball over the past decade. We've had our fair share of that success, as has SFA, Sam, SLU and others.

In fairness to Frazier, King and Deji ... they are good players, but they never got any consistency this year. Injuries, NCAA rules, etc. and now all three are gone. If they each had one more year, these three and one more could get it done. But, that's the way the ball rolls. Kids graduate and you move on to the next lot. Next year, we have eight solid players already -- West, Thompson, Woodley and Joseph and Dobbinson, Hall, Welcome and Killian. Add in Kissoonlal, Prudhomme, Yancy, Lane and Koontz and possibly another player and we should be a 20-plus win team. The future is bright, but SFA has taken the level of play up for everyone. The same old thing won't work anymore. But, this is good because the SLC will improve overall.

I don't buy the "SFA winning a NCAA game is good for the SLC"...it's good for SFA...they'll get all the publicity, they'll get better players and more recognition.
The way to raise the SLC is by winning OOC games against quality teams...then you raise the RPI and can in the future get more than one team in the NCAA tournament. Stop scheduling DII teams (that means us, too)...
That would do more for the conference than SFA winning a NCAA game...it didn't do a whole lot for the SLC when we did it. NSU reaped all the benefits.

Someone remind me...was it TeNesha Moore that the Lady Demons lost to injury during the offseason? Was potentially going to fill the loss of Trudy Armstead (?).

Don't ya know Lamar thinks they have it made now that SFA is out...would like to see the Lady Demons continue the hot play and pull a Lee Corso "Not so fast, my friend..." on the Lamar Lady Cardinals.
