Don;t know what it is but they have definetely gotten some tremendous players on their team and play within the system nearly perfect. I've also noticed that the refs pretty much let SFA get away with everything in the paint. The literally get to do whatever they want in the paint.

SFA is the SLC plumbline now. It used to be shared amongst NSU, Sam, SLU, Lamar, Nicholls, McNeese, TAMU--CC etc. Who wants to trump them? Who has it in them to dethrone them? Until then, they are the team everyone thinks of when they think of SLC basketball. As long as Brad Underwood is their coach, they will always be in the mix, as well. I think Coach McConathy and company have the wherewithal to dethrone them, but will we? If so, when? SFA proves a dynamic system is far better than dynamic athletes. We have both at NSU, but this year, we have zero inside game, which has cost us and will cost us in Katy, I am afraid. Especially if Frazier is out. We can't win the SLC tourney getting out rebounded by 10-20 a game. Not happening. It would seem SFA is taking advantage of their win last year...I've ALWAYS felt that we didn't really try to get players we normally wouldn't have gotten after our win against Iowa.

We have had some pretty darn good players since then. Our system is all about timing and wearing down the opponent. Other coaches have countered our approach and we've had to adjust. I don't think Coach Mike is done adjusting. I am sure he laments not having a Jermaine Spencer, Clifton Lee, Trey Gilder, James Hulbin and DeQuan Hicks down low this year. If we had that, we'd be neck-and-neck w SFA. Live and learn. Coach Mike has three NCAA appearances and two wins in the tournament. He is still the plumbline in that department. But, Underwood is gaining on him and that makes for exciting basketball.
