Started out doing well but are 1-4 in their last five games...we beat that same McNeese team by 20 just two weeks ago.
1. We don't have anyone other than Perez that can give us consistent scoring.
2. We are probably the smallest team in the SLC.

We have players who have the ability to complement Perez but they need to step up. I hope some of those players are in the gym - on their own - putting up shots. That's what it is all about - making shots. We play good enough defense & take care of the ball pretty well but ultimately all of that loses its effect if we are not scoring.

You are 100% correct...we play pretty good defense and our defense is what keeps us in games when we aren't scoring.

Looking at the remainder of the schedule there is a real possibility that, as well as we started the year out, we could miss out on the SLC or barely sneak in. Of the last five games three of them are on the road...@sfa @nicholls and @uno with SLU and UNO making trips to Prather. We are currently tied for 4th with McNeese and Corpus.
McNeese has a tougher remaining schedule too with 2 games against Lamar, 2 games against UCA and 1 against Nicholls.
Corpus has by far the easiest remaining schedule of everyone in the SLC with ACU(2), UWI, HBU and SHSU...with only 1 of those teams having a winning record.
It would take a lot for us to miss the SLC but it looks like, based off of schedule alone, that we will end up 5th or maybe 6th...hoping for a 4th place finish.

Seems like every game we have a 4-5 minute stretch where we go ice cold. On the plus side, if the rest of the team steps up we definitely have the talent to make a run in the SLC tourney. Perez is really amazing, best Lady Demon since Judy Clark.

Tough road game at nicholls tonight...Lady Colonels have won 6 straight...their last loss was to us. Certainly not impossible for us to win but like Trackdemon said, we can't afford to have that stretch of the game where our offense goes cold. The other issue is not getting destroyed in the paint. Lamar and Nicholls are probably the two biggest teams in the SLC.

Not looking good tonight...lack of consistent scoring from the Lady Demons once again. As poorly as we're playing we're only down by 10...almost halftime.

Correction...it got awful just before half as nicholls hit 2 threes. Lady Demons only scored 13 points in the entire 1st half...

That was about as ugly as a game as you are going to watch. Couldn't hit a shot to save our lives. It wasn't that the shots were rolling off the rim, they weren't getting anywhere near the hoop. Just really ugly. Tons of stupid and careless turnovers.
The officiating was horrible and they allowed Nicholls to play physical with us and we were definitely hosed on some calls. But, the officiating wasn't the difference in the game. If we play offense like that it will be a very long last half of the conference season.

McNeese continues their strong conference finish moving them into sole possession of 4th place. Lady Demons and Corpus both lose last night and remain tied for 5th while UCA loses to McNeese putting them into 6th.
As much as I respect and think the Stoehrs are fantastic and are the right people for the job I still just think we're overachieving. We have good coaching and our girls play decent-good defense every game but we still don't have the personnel to consistently keep up with the top teams in the league. We can get hot for a few games but consistency is the name of the game.

The coaching is excellent, the players eventually have to step up. If we just make 1/2 of the wide open looks we had and not make careless turnovers we win by 15.
