Lady Demons look to go 6-0 in SLC play! Lamar will be looking for revenge after last year's SLC tournament semi-final.
This team and coaching staff is doing a great job of playing to their strengths. From a statistic and size standpoint we should NOT be atop the league but fundamentals, coaching, adjustments at halftime and consistent play is doing it. They overachieved last year and are continuing to do so!
Maybe the Demons worked on some defense since last Tuesday. Defense creates offense in basketball. That's why we aren't getting those fast break points that we're so used to see in the Demons get.

Lamar with a small lead. Only thing helping Lamar is the 5 or 6 three pointers they've hit and we have several unforced turnovers in the game so far.

Lady Demons down by 30-24...twenty four of Lamar's points have come from their eight 3-pointers.

Lamar has hit 11 or 12 three pointers in this game. Their avg is 6. Not sure if it's just the match up and we're too short but those girls are hitting them several feet behind the arc. Every time we get a shot and get close they go down and pop and "nothing but net" three.

Lamar has hit FOURTEEN three pointers in this game but we're only down by 8!

Looks like this may be our first conference loss. Just can't overcome Lamar and their higher than average three point shooting today, hitting 15 for the game so far.

Lamar sucks in the paint...hard. Which is strange because they're a much bigger team than we are. Doesn't really matter today when you break the SLC record for most three pointers in a game...they're at 17 so far.

...now 18 threes. But surprisingly we're only down 9 with 4:00 left.

We had our chances to make it a game at the end. But couldn't get those extra breaks and bounces. Looks like we were just gassed from trying to guard all those three point shots that just would not be missed.
I love watching the Lady Demons play because these girls just will not quit. Most teams would have given up by now if the other team had hit 18 threes.
I will say I am effing tired of seeing other teams light up our gym and have their once in a lifetime shooting performances against NSU...why the freaking bad luck??

I can't decide what aspect we do worse...play defense or rebound. Our defensive rebounding it what is keeping Lamar in this game. They're getting 2 or 3 shots around the basket every time on a miss.

Lamar comes back to take a 62-61 lead in the 2nd half after some sorry ball handling.

Very glad we won, but our defense is just not very good. Lamar scored 84 on UCA at home and UCA is, by far, the worse team in the conference. We gave up 84 to Lamar at home. It's head scratching, really. We might very well have the worse defense in the league. I need to look at the stats to see. Our rebounding is about equal to our defense, by the way. Thankfully, our athletic ability is probably the best in the conference and two out of three games we do shoot the ball well. Just a bad day for FTs as we're normally better there. But, had Lamar not been so inept the last five minutes, they could have beaten us or taken it to OT. With top-tier talent, we're middle of the pack right now. SFA and Sam are better than us by a good bit and Abilene is obviously better. McNeese, SLU, TAMU-CC will all be tough, especially if we continue to ignore defending and the opportunity to get offensive rebounds. Good to see Deji getting minutes. Hopefully his impact in rebounding will be felt as soon as possible. I'm not sure what it is going to take to get our guys to play tough defense, though. I mean, our defense used to be outstanding. What happened the past couple seasons?

I will disagree with your assessment of this game. Demons went to the 3-2 zone and held Lamar to just 40% shooting and just 9-of-32 from three. That is great defense. The reason Lamar was even in the game was offensive rebounding, which we know is a major issue for NSU. But if the Demons hold their opponents to 40% shooting in every game the rest of the way, you'd be hard pressed to say we would lose more than 1 or 2 of them. Timely move to the zone and let's hope that it leads to the same outcome down the stretch of last year when NSU started to slow teams down.
