Hiring a 3rd DC in 3 years for Jay. Kinda sucks, wish these FBS schools would leave our coordinators alone.

He did a nice job, but our defense still gave up 27 points a game (not adding in Baylor to be fair) against peer competition. We have to be better than that to have a shot at a deep run in the playoffs. For measure, Boone's defense gave up roughly the same amount (28 points per game) against peer competition in 2013 (not adding in Cincinnati to be fair). We need someone who can get that number down below 20 points. We're not far away, though. Thanks to Coach Lucas for shaving one point off in one year. It's a start in the right direction. Wish him the best because family comes first ... all day ... every day ... over any sport.

Speaks well for Coach Thomas. He recognizes talent, even in coaches.

Ill give the benefit of the doubt to Lucas because we were so decimated by injury the second half of the season. We had a true freshmen offensive linemen playing defensive tackle against SFA for crying out loud. No doubt him moving on is a loss and what he did with our defense was impressive considering. Jay will bring in another good one though, not really worried about it.

Rumored that he was in town and this evening confirmed via footballscoop.com. Darryl Daye the former head coach at Nicholls and current head coach at Missouri Southern State will be the new NSU defensive coordinator.

Definitely the best possible outcome for our situation, and an upgrade if anything at the position.

Jay Thomas' specialty is the defensive line. Daryl Daye's specialty is linebackers. Coach Lockett does a great job w the DBs. Look for our defense to be at or near the top of the conference and the entire FBS, really, w these three running it.

Excellent hire. Daye not only is a good coach but knows the conference. Should be an upgrade all the way around.
