The awkwardness of Prather is due to it being designed as a multipurpose facility back in the day...one of those purposes was RODEO which is the reason for it's odd shape. The lack of crowd support is most likely due to inconsistency from year to year.
We need lots of new things...a new library, a new basketball arena, would be nice to rebuild Caldwell Hall to replace the disaster known as Kyser Hall.
Good luck to the Dawgs the rest of the way.

What about remodeling Prather? The inside is nice. Just reconfigure the seating to include seating on the north end as well as the current east and west sides. Seating could go from 3,400 or whatever it is to about 4-5k. And fans would be on top of the action more. Students could sit on the north end behind the goal posts. Any space behind that could be used for dressing rooms, as it is now or storage. Good construction could hide all that, though. Just a thought.

Hey Demons, Great game last night..I have no doubt that your squad will improve & do well in the Southland. I have much respect for your Head Coach, wish we could have gotten him @ Tech but that ship has sailed. It's been awhile since I've been in "The Prather" but was kind of disappointed with y'all's home crowd. Is that why the court was repositioned to the Southside? Also Northwestern needs to build a new basketball arena that's more fitting for your consistently good mens/women's teams. We as a university have been lobbying the state for a new arena for years. It is supposedly in the works and needs some signatures and a few more "approvals"…is what we're told. We'll see.

I am not so sure about replacing Prather. It seems to me that too many of the modern basketball arenas all look alike. You can't tell which one you are in until you get inside and see the name on the walls. I am not saying that Prather is fine the way it is. Obviously it needs work such as new dressing areas, better concession areas, a new scoreboard, etc. but the fact that it is different from most other gyms is a plus as far as I am concerned. You put 2000 plus in that place and it becomes very loud and scary.

If they were to just remodel it I would like to see it have a pointed roof like Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium or Kansas's Allen Fieldhouse...I get sick of that "hangar" shit that other schools refer to it as.

We could always become the Northwestern State Jets, tie in w Barksdale and Fort Polk, and the hangar thing would work!!! Imagine purple, orange and white camo!!!

I'm fairly certain the new arena thing is happening eventually…the state is just taking their sweet ass time on it, but the process is in motion.

With all the cuts to higher education, I can't see it happening. Not anytime soon.

With all the cuts to higher education, I can't see it happening. Not anytime soon. Location has been determined for it and everything, unless I've been completely lied to this is happening.
