Dawgs come to Prather tomorrow with a 5-1 record, although they've only played 2 away games and their wins are against Southern (1-6) Morehead St (4-4) American University (4-3) Presbyterian College (3-4) Samford (2-5). Their lone loss is against Temple (4-2).
I believe, based on how we have played this season, that even in our own gym, we are a 10 point underdog. Would love to see us go 3-0 over LaTech after tomorrow night but the odds are not in our favor...of course the odds weren't "in our favor" back in September either.
Hoping for our most complete game of the season with contributions from more than Jalan and Zeke!

We will not win this game unless we play much better than at any time we've played this season. Which, is totally possible and would be most welcomed. The fact is we have lost three games to Tier One/Division One competition by an average of roughly 25 points. If we want to be truly honest with ourselves, that's not very good. But, the good news is I think we're only about ten to fifteen points off from our target. And we have won three VERY unimpressive games over NAIA opponents that do not count toward our overall rankings at the end of the season. This will be the first game this year we'll know exactly what we have against peer competition. La Tech will fight tooth and nail to keep us from "sweeping" them in football and basketball and quite frankly, they have a very good team and more height than we do. If Missouri Valley owned us on the boards, La Tech will leave a bruise by game's end. Kind of like they did last year.

To sweep Tech in basketball after beating them in football would be all too sweet. Unfortunately, I agree that it will certainly take our best game of the season so far. Which like purplestorm said, is very possible. I haven't gotten to watch or listen to all of the games so far this season, but it sounds like we have under-achieved in pretty much every game. Tech is apparently still pretty good. I was at the game in Ruston last season and they straight up whipped us. We are getting dominated down low and hopefully Ryan King is back from injury to help with that. Junior transfer Deji Adekunle is apparently still battling some elegibility issues? Or can only play in like 14 games starting next semester? I'm not sure, but hopefully he can help when he gets out there.
Should be a pretty good crowd in Prather tonight and hopefully we come to play. It will be a fun one if we do. Fork'em

This game going about what I expected. Demons can't stop Hamilton and Applebee, which was expected.

Solid effort against a really good basketball team. La Tech is good. We're improving, but West, Woodley and Frazier need help. Hall and Welcome seem to be learning on the fly. Dobbinson will help us a lot when he figures it out, too. We just need more scorers and we need better defense. But, if we continue to improve, I think we'll compete hard for the SLC title and we only have two Seniors, so that bodes well for next year. We desperately need King and Deji on the floor, though. Soon enough, I hope.

Yep...our three contributors are doing it all and that's not gonna work. The new guys need to work for the best shot instead of jacking things up at the basketball like they're Larry Bird.
I was close with saying we'd go down by 10, unfortunately.

This loss won't hurt us. It's nice to gauge the team by peer competition. La Tech is one of the better mid-major teams in the country. We're not quite there, but we're not terribly far off, either. This teams reminds me a lot of last year's team. On the short end of the stick all too often, but competitive. I'm hoping the return of King and the eventual debut of Deji will help us out tremendously. But, we'll see. I think our year to make some noise is next year, but it would be nice to do it two years in a row.

Funny, Cajun. The only comment I will make is how funny it was to see the Tech crowd romping about like this was the national championship game. The icing on the cake for me was when a Tech fan behind me said, "Well at least we didn't go 0-3." I almost burst into laughter. Kinda makes you wanna parade through Ruston with a banner that is painted in purple with "2 for 3" in big bold letters. But, I am above such shenanigans....at least tonight anyway.

Meanwhile in the SLC, SFA upset Memphis and SLU had a 1 point lead at the half against Gonzaga before getting behind in the 2nd half and losing by 19.
Say what you want about SFA, but they are the most consistent program in the SLC...they're solid every year, even after a coaching change.

Game went as I expected. Once we start playing better D we will be tough to beat. Wouldn't surprise me to see coach Mac make some Defensive changes soon.

Hey Demons, Great game last night..I have no doubt that your squad will improve & do well in the Southland. I have much respect for your Head Coach, wish we could have gotten him @ Tech but that ship has sailed. It's been awhile since I've been in "The Prather" but was kind of disappointed with y'all's home crowd. Is that why the court was repositioned to the Southside? Also Northwestern needs to build a new basketball arena that's more fitting for your consistently good mens/women's teams.

Congrats to your Bulldogs and I expect them to fully compete for a tourney bid.
Prather is what it is. The court was moved because it is really bad when the court is in the center of the arena. When it is packed it can be a very loud venue.
I do wish we could get a better venue but with budget cuts I doubt we will see plans to build a new facility anytime soon.

NoBoDawg, with LSU holding the pocketbooks hostage, there is little to no chance for a new basketball facility. Only if they drilled a gas well between the campus and Natchitoches Central would there be money for that to happen...but stranger things have happened. The state's "flagship" gets only priority on those kind of projects.
