I'm also hearing something that does the same for me, if we've heard the same thing.

I will try to say this without sounding without empathy. My heart goes out to those players and administration as this is not something anyone wants to deal with. You lose a player that was a leader on team on the field and off the field. Continued prayers to all involved.
Now, there is a flip side to this and we know that Laird's days were numbered...it was only a matter of time before he got the pink slip and we all knew it. Is this a way to wiggle out of it? I can't say but an overhaul of this program is needed.
I think you are on to something that there is a bigger story here and something else had to have happened. Only a matter of time before we know what that is.

Far more involved here than many want to admit. The truth always comes out. Give it time. Whatever admin does going forward, please hire a man that can handle the job and isn't selling snake oil, looking to pad retirement, or one who is so far out of his depth it was obvious to everyone else but him. Unfortunately, a young man lost his life in the midst of all these shenanigans. May his memory live on in NSU's future endeavors.

Wow. I feel so terrible for everyone involved. No one should have to go through this, especially college students. This is supposed to be among the best times of their lives.
As for other motives about cancelling the season & Laird resigning, I fear that you are right. But I am praying that somehow there's really nothing else to it. Everyone- the school, its athletic department, its fans, and especially their student athletes- have been through enough already.
After all this, we are way past due for some good luck.

"Go ye Demons take the field. Northwestern Demons NEVER yield..." Well.\, we just yielded on many levels.

Let the court system handle it.

This is humiliating. I really thought we had the right leadership and it’s apparent that is not the case. We screwed our remaining opponents like mcneese out of their homecoming and incarnate word out of a home game and their senior day. And of course we now have no homecoming, no senior day. I really thought 18 season of inept coaching and leadership would be rock bottom but how sorely I was mistaken. This is just shameful. We deserve better and the players deserve better. I say this with full respect to the young man who lost his life. That breaks my heart but don’t make hard situation exponentially worse by doing this. Administration should be ashamed. Vander waal is speaking out about this and props to that young man.

This whole thing is a total screwup, wrapped in a terrible tragedy, and topped off with leadership malpractice. My hope is that University of Louisiana President, Jim Henderson, will engage this and get to the bottom of all this and make decisions for the good of NSU before he leaves the position in January. Whatever happens needs to happen soon. My heart aches for the parents of Ronnie Caldwell but we need to make sure we do our best going forward to help all our NSU students have a great Northwestern experience.
