The nine recruits so far certainly bring some skills but too early to know how it will translate to success. Does anyone know if we kept any players from last year's roster? I see McDonald on the roster. He has a tremendous upside potential. Glad to see him return and have a chance to lead this team. Big question mark in my mind is how the culture will evolve under this coach. We shall see. As for the Lady Demons, I have a great deal of optimism for this senior -laden squad. If they pull it together, they will be in the hunt for a conference title.

With the coach having a deep-rooted history in Junior College, we can expect older players that are ready to play. I don't see this as a complete tear down but more like restocking the shelf. If McDonald and Greedy are back to match with the incoming talent, we'll be fine this year. Coach Gipson built on what Coach McConathy left...I think it's safe to say...NSU Basketball is back to stay! ššš

Greedy hit the portal. McDonald is the lone player with significant playing time coming back. This is a completely new team coming in with the new coaching staff. Who knows what will happen?

McDonald hit the portal. They signed a kid who was committed to Memphis but decomitted in May. He was a 3/4 star guard. So this is a completely new squad from top to bottom.

We looked somewhat talented last night. The problem with trying to get a read on the level is that we played an opponent not on our level (not trying to disparage DCU, good luck to them this season). We put up big numbers on a much outsized team with less speed on the floor. It will be interesting to see what happens when we get to Tulane on Thursday and SFA next week. Hopefully we can match up with them and show something. Iām looking forward to watching the new season.

I saw the Men play SFA this week. SFA is solid so it was a good barometer. I saw a great deal of talent and signs of good teamwork at the start of the game although they got behind early due to some excellent play by SFA and poor shooting by our guys falling behind by as much as 19. They did cut it to 10 points just before half. However, SFA came out ready and pulled out a bit and it appeared our guys did not respond to the challenge. They made some poor choices leading to low percentage shots and turnovers. Bottom line is that this team has potential and if they develop a stronger team mentality, discipline, and winning attitude, they could be a force for anyone in our conference. Let's see what develops. I want to encourage folks to support these teams when you can. This is more important than ever.
