Can this football team muster up enough to go 3-0 in conference play and 3-4 overall? Offense can definitely do it. Will the defense rise to the occasion?

Every game for Demons will require our best effort by each player on every down to win. We have little room for error. Fork Em Demons.

If we don't win this one, I reckon the season is shot. If we don't get some rain, I reckon huntin' season might be shot, too. May both teams play with good sportsmanship and get through the game as healthy as possible. I gotta run because my wife has me some cathead biscuits with sawmill gravy, farm fresh eggs, and some wild boar and deer sausage a waitin' on me. Y'all have a good'un.

Well, I'm not sure what to say other than "wow" for the first quarter. For the second quarter, a bit of a head scratcher. As good as we were early on, we seemed very flat later. If you average the two, a solid effort. Offensive passing game is legit when it's clicking. We don't have much of a running game, though. Decent and by committee it seems. What happened to Scooter Adams? Defense has played lights out tonight. Special teams not very good, though. Can we keep this up? I have no idea. We'll know in about 1.5 hours.

HCU coaching adjustments have been very effective. We have no answers thus far. We've missed two makeable FG's and thrown three picks. We do this next week and SE Mizzou will beat us by four or more TDs. So far, game ball goes to the defense.

Offense had two great quarters and two not-so-great quarters. Defense had four great quarters. Game ball to the defense. This was a weird game. How good could we be? I have no idea. We look like an FBS team in one quarter and a D-III team in another. So strange, but a win is a win.

3-0 in conference. I'll take it. I'm with PurpleStorm though. Who are we really? This team has shown fight and the ability to come back but also have had stretches to where you ask...are we a football team or a scrimmage club? A tough Southeast Missouri team comes into Turpin next week. They've beaten Nicholls, Central Arkansas, and Southern Illinois. Most importantly, they are coming off a bye so they are rested. If we play defense like this, we have a chance to be 1-0 for the week again. We must take care of these lulls we have though otherwise, this team is going to embarrass us for homecoming.

Looky here! That was some performance last night. I didn't get to watch it but it sounded like Coach Laird and company has'em playin' ball now. I don't know anything 'bout this team comin' to town this weekend. I just know they're from Southeast Missouri and there's some good huntin' up there in them parts. That throwed roll place is up that way, too. Probably some good ol' country folks up that way. Speakin' of throwing rolls, I gotta go before my wife throws a cathead biscuit at me. We're getting ready for church. Have a good'un and remember to be grateful for what ya got.

We may be on to something offensively. That was the best quarter of football I have seen us play in quite awhile. I am not sure about the defense yet. Maybe they have found themselves, too. If these coaches even get to 5-6 after the kind of start they had, that would be impressive. That would be a total turn around and winning five out of the last eight games would be enough to encourage them on into success next year. In my opinion. Also, based on the roster, it seems much of the team returns next year, so maybe things are starting to work properly. We will know a lot more after next weekend. SEMO is tough.

Our remaining schedule:
SE Missouri (very tough team) TAMU -- Commerce (tough team) SLU (tough team) UIW (best team in the conference by far)
We are 3-4, should be 5-2 or 4-3, but can we win two of these remaining games to go 5-6? Could we win three of them? All of them? Any of them?

Injuries have decimated the running backs. It’s bad when you have your backup QBs ready to hit the field as running backs if needed. We have two perhaps three running backs who can go, but only one is actually healthy. We have two back up QBs, of five total backups, who may have to go at RB.

Open date on the 29th could be coming at the right time. I’m much less worried about beating SEMO (sorry y’all going to Homecoming) than I am the three game stretch in November. Hopefully a couple weeks rest will better fortify the RB position.

I have always found times like this kinda exciting and a wee bit opportunistic. Y'all never know, we may find our future RB of NFL caliber moving players around like this. Let's see what these young'un's and young coaches can conjure up for a game plan against this team coming to town Saturday. From what y'all are saying, this is a tough bunch rolling into Natchitoches. We better be ready. Feed them boys some meat pies, gumbo and black-iron skillet cornbread to get'em strong by game time! A lil' nanner puddin' ain't never hurt nobody neither. Have a good'un. Be nice to somebody today!
