I haven't been on here in awhile. Just trying to see what y'all think about this Montana game. We've played up there three times, I think. Only once were we competitive and that was in 2001. That was a tight game. We had a touchdown called back or it would have been real tight. They went on to win the National Championship over Furman, if I remember correctly. This old head has a lot of grays now, so I might be a lil' off on that. The other two times we got roughed up pretty good. They're highly ranked again and we couldn't buy any respect with Bezos' money. We're gonna have to go earn that respect and ain't no other way to do it other than on the field. I have no delusions about this game. It will take our very best to have a chance and the Grizzlies will have to have an off game. They have a fine football program, fan base, and a great stadium. I have a lot of respect for their program. It seems we have quite a bit of talent now, but can we put it all together? It's been a long time, so I'm hopin' this ol' worm will turn at some point. Massey Ratings has us gettin' our butts beat by 27 this weekend. Sagarin has us losing by about 30. Be interesting to see if we'll believe the media or go play hard and see what happens. I reckon we're about to find out. I'll be sittin' by my radio with a big ol' glass of sweet tea listening.

Hey all, Griz fan here. Personally I think this game will be closer than many expect. The GRIZ are loaded this season, and should be a leigit contender. But Hauck's teams tend to be slow starters. It's going to be hot Saturday (low 90s) in Missoula, so that can make for sluggish football. I predict it's very close midway through the 3rd, and then UM pulls away to win by 17.
Would love to answer any questions about the Griz team, or about places to go in Missoula if anyone is making the trip.

Also, if you are headed to Missoula, be sure to wear the NWS colors downtown Friday night. You won't buy a beer all night.
Hop on over to egriz.com to get our take on the game (sorry in advance about the dicks; we like all programs have them. Just ignore 'em)

It's been years since I've commented on here, but I think I can echo the earlier post about no delusions playing in Missoula. I've never been to a game up there, but one day I'd love to make one. I think I'd like to make one when it's snowing, though. I know several people who have gone and rave about the atmosphere, the fans, the city, and the beautiful landscapes surrounding it. I'm being told we have some really good football players now, not that we haven't had any in the past, but we've been way down for far too long. Our greatest celebration in 20 years has been beating La Tech in 2014. Do I think we can go to Griz country and pull the upset? I don't want to say no in a resounding fashion because "any given Saturday/Sunday," but I doubt it. This will be a very tall order against a very good football team. The heat will not bother our boys. The elevation could cause some issues by the second-half. I'm just thankful we're playing a classy program with classy fans. Much respect to you all in Missoula. Let's line it up Saturday and see what happens. Blessings.

We pride ourselves on treating visitors like the guests they are.
It's just darn good to have football back, no??

I would love to make this game, but there's no way I can get away from work. Busy, busy. I'll be watching it, though. May the best team win and all who participate and watch be good sportsmen. May the winner celebrate with grace and humility and may the loser admit they were defeated by a better team that day. Blessings.

I reckon I'll be dove huntin' Saturday morning. I'll be home by the time they start pushin' one another around. Will have to listen on the radio, though. I am a true neo-Luddite and would rather watch the sunrise or sunset than get involved with too much of this technology. Good luck to all the coaches and players on both teams. Stay as healthy as you can. When you knock the fire out of each other, do it professionally and not dirty. This game last about three hours or so. It ain't bigger'n life. It's just a game. A fun one, yes, but it don't mean a hill of beans to nothing in the grand scheme of things. Y'all take care now.

This weekend the scoreboard is secondary to all-in effort, near error-free football, discipline, at least even on turnover, and football competence. It looks like we have some improvements this year in talent but execution will be the thing to watch. So many variable tends to yield so many variables for the team. Looking to see how quickly the coaches and team can get things looking like a dangerous football team. FORK EM DEMONS.

I felt much better about it before our OC had to unexpectedly step down a few weeks ago. The altitude will for sure play a factor as the game gets into the second half (I want to say around 3500ft?) and if Montana hits some big plays early and the crowd gets really going I think it has the potential to get ugly quick. But I'm at least hopeful for a competitive game and to see us improve on both sides of the ball, lot of new faces and optimistic about a better season once we get into conference play. Got a chance to visit Montana last year and fell in love with the state and the people, bummer i couldn't make it back for this one.

I second the sentiment above. Not too optimistic for the upset, but not concerned with that. Really just want to see high intensity, error-free (or at least error-limited) football for four quarters in all three phases. If I see that, I couldn’t care less about the scoreboard.
I’m hoping to keep it respectable. 47-17 would be nice.
(59-21 also a possibility)

Too many penalties early in this game. Nothing that can't be cleaned up.

Too many penalties early in this game. Nothing that can't be cleaned up. Yeah, Stinger, the problem is the penalties and mental errors have been happening for 10 years now.
