I may have been too hard on Laird. Demons came out prepared and ready to play over here
Glad I was wrong

I don't think we need to apologize for being upset over losing to a D2 team the way we did. Even a really good D2 team. Everyone is very frustrated from perpetual losing seasons. Fans are going to protest when this carries on so long. Laird has proven a steady hand, though, and seems focused. Plus, he loves NSU, so he just might get the job done in the long run. We just have to put it all together in the Southland for results that truly matter. How we lost to Midwestern State last week after playing the way we did in the first-half tonight is perplexing. Bottom line is we're 0-3 right now and no one respects us. NO ONE! We're going to have to go earn that respect on the field or a couple plucky quarters against LSU will mean nothing. All that said, if we can pass the ball around against LSU, we should be able to move the ball on any Southland defense for the rest of the year. We'll see what happens.

I’m very encouraged after tonight. Second half the numbers gAme caught up to us.
I’m starting to believe that Laird is going to get the job done. Demons showed something tonight.
Eppler really played well. Dude was a leader

I agree with TrackDemon. First, I will say that I need to apologize for my lack of faith in the coaches and players and allowing my frustration with the loss to Midwestern to shine through. They showed that they can be good enough to hang in with anyone. LSU is a good team and we won the first quarter. We showed real poise in the first half and worked hard to earn those first half points. I now believe that we can win several games in our conference if we are ready for the games. In my opinion, this was the key issue with Midwestern State; we were not prepared. Midwestern is a good D2 team, and we were not ready for them. If we are prepared and have a good plan, we can play with and beat anyone in our league. TrackDemon said it best, it was a numbers game at LSU in the second half. LSU has twice as many starters as we do. Too much depth and fresh legs.

Honestly I think we had every right to be frustrated after getting beat so badly by a d2 team on our own turf a couple weeks ago. We haven’t had a winning season since 2008, conf championship/playoffs since 2004, and we’ve waited and waited for this ship to get turned around. Hopes are anew every August and we think we’re close only to have another losing season. I know there are others that invest time and money into coming to Natchitoches on game days and it’s a lot of work to set up tents, cook food for people, etc for every home game. I love it and look forward to it every fall but damn I just get so tired of doing all that and walk into the stadium to see us get our ass beat. I’m sorry I love this school and football program, I want better for the fans, students, alumni, and don’t see any reason why we can’t be competitive. I’m out of answers and ideas and here we are looking at a 0-3 start when we should be 2-1. I just want to drive in for a game and be confident we can win a damn game. The first half of LSU was encouraging but we have a very good opponent Saturday than can light up the score board and we really need this one. I’m a big Brad Laird fan and believe in him as a man and coach but at the end of the day all I want is for Northwestern State to regain its reputation on the football field.

I am pulling for Coach Laird and company -- players, coaches and staff -- to succeed on every level, but if we get beaten badly by a D2 team on our own turf when we're supposed to be improving as a program, I'm going to protest. No apologies from me. It's all part of the game. You play well, you get adoration. You play poorly, you get questioned most of the time. In the end, it's just a game, but if we're going to play it, we need to start winning some. The fans are tired. Playing LSU tough for a bit was fun, but in the end we got smacked. It means very little. Gotta go beat HBU or put the ol' Victrola back at the beginning of the record and let it play some more. Winning is NOT everything, but it solves ALMOST everything. We need some wins. Period. No motivational speeches needed. Just wins in the win column. Peace.
