Looking pretty ugly. Offense is simply horrible at this point. Not much positive to say except thank God we aren't playing North Dakota State.

I think purely based on the added element of his legs Blumenthal should start the second half.
14-7 at the break.
UCA -232 NSU-122
One glaring statistic is that UCA ran 48 plays in the first half. Fatigue may factor in to play

Offense looked much better with Blumenthal. I'll take being down 14-7 at the break. Really not a good start to the game but Demons definitely showed some fight.

Down 24-7 in the 3rd right now. Not looking good.

Can't get a stop and can't score. Aggravating to say the least. UCA is 12-20 on third downs. Unbelievable.

Demons fall 24-10. 0-3 on the year. Offense looked better under Blumenthal. Still a lot of problems and what appears to be another long year.

At this point, I can only see us beating Kentucky Wesleyan...maybe a toss up at ACU and get a W there but I don't see any other besides those. Long season indeed.

It seems we did improve in overall performance, sans penalties, but we played the wrong opponent for it to show. UCA is quite a bit better than UIW. Frankly, I thought they would hang 40 or so points on us and we'd have 14, at best. So, our defense definitely improved. Our offense has a long way to go, but all we can do is be patient and see how the coaches make changes and improve ... or not.

If you look very hard there are few positives and possibly improvements after three games. The most disappointing aspect has been QB play although I don't think play calling has done Haack any favors. The option is not his forte. I think if Blumenthal had been used in the UIW game, especially in the red zone, we may have had more success.

I agree with that. Blumenthal looks more comfortable running the offense. Haack doesn't look bad but the offense doesn't seem to fit him.
I find we really lack any real offensive identity. For the last few years we never seem to have a nice flowing offense. Very spotty. There was some improvement to the offense but we are still a ways away before it is close to the level we need it to be at.
Shame, because I find out defensive play hasn't been bad at all. Just no help from the offense.

When you go with grad transfers over guys who have time in the program year after year the roughness is expected. QB is one position where comfort within the scheme is paramount. One more loss and you might as well start grooming the next qb. And , in doing so, send the message that they won't take a grad transfer qb in this recruiting cycle. Let our young talent develop without having to think that their work is for nought.

The Offensive Staff, more or less the QB coach, has not developed a Quarterback in their 4 seasons here. It has been transfer after transfer. I haven't seen any improvement at that position and the transfers bring nothing. I think it's time to consider some change on the staff. I assume we will redshirt our signee this year but whose to say they wont bring in another transfer because they haven't properly developed him...

I'm not sure that all the blame should go on the QB coach when he doesn't make the personnel decisions. The head coach is choosing who is brought in and who starts. There is no way a coach can take a player that has struggled at other programs and groom him into an effective starter in a few months. Most quality players take time and work to get to the point that they can be successful at the college level. While coaches are spending most of their time teaching new, short time players the system younger players are standing around missing out on their chance to improve. So we really don't find out just how good our high school recruits can be. The coaches only work two deep. If you are third or lower you either do scout team or stand around. You don't get the practice and work needed to develop. If transfers are going to be brought in the coaches must find a way to continue the growth of the other players. Laziness, excuses, poor judgement, poor execution, lack of discipline, bad decision making, and low morale can't be an ongoing part of this team if they are expected to win.
