Well.. The end of the season is upon us (which is relieving in a sense). All that remains is the battle for chief caddo. I don't know much about their offense, but with our defense it doesn't really matter. If we come out like we did against Lamar, I feel good about this game. If we come out like we did versus literally any other opponent this year, it could be sour grapes to close out the year. We gotta get that chief back though, and I feel that the players understand the importance of it. How do y'all think it will go? My prediction is 37-31 good guys, for what it's worth.

Before the Sam game I would have picked us to win, however the Sam game has me concerned. I definitely believe we can save the Chief but we will need a huge effort on D.

This year has been just down right dreadful for NSU athletics...soccer was dreadful, again...volleyball went from playing in the NCAA tournament to having 5 wins on the season and finishing 2nd to last in the conference...football has been a disaster and to top it off we lost long time NSU athletics supporter, longest serving NSU president and pillar of NSU class and spirit Dr. Randall Webb.
This football team needs to end the year with a win...I don't care about the Chief and I don't care how ugly the win is but our university needs this win.

Things seem really bad right now. They will improve. I, too, will not be sad when this football season ends, however. And since Jalan is hurt and out, I have adjusted my expectations for the basketball program. Hopefully next year will be much better for football and basketball. We shall see.

SFA will obviously have little trouble moving the football on the 121st ranked defense in FCS. Offense moves the ball but can't do enough to make up for defensive woes. I see the chief going back to nacogdoches. 44-31 SFA.
Demons finish the season 3-8 (3-6) after having preseason aspirations of contending for the title and making the playoffs…

Superb effort today! First time all year we held an opponent to under 300 yards offense. Nice way to finish a rough season. Who knows what next year holds, but it helps to end on a high note.

Welp, Im pretty happy I was wrong about my prediction. Very excited for these kids and the seniors especially to go out with a win and get to celebrate carrying in the chief. Glad he's back home!
I have no idea what was going on at certain times this year and for the most part it was really frustrating but they did finish the year on a 4-2 run…..and for whatever reason which is a mystery - played really well defensively today and stephen rivers really finished the year strong. Happy for Eagan and Chris Moore and I do believe deep down that Jay Thomas is our guy, the staff shuffling has been crazy, but despite some of my venting trust that Jay will make the best decisions for the program.

Great way to end the season. I had to follow the live stats from a playoff game.

It was a fun night. SFA brought their band so we had dueling bands all through the game. Great atmosphere. After the game while everyone was celebrating on the field around the Chief the Natchitoches Christmas festival fireworks went off. It was awesome!

After all the whining and complaining after losses, this team finished 5th in the conference. 5th. They don't have a full staff, 2 guys are part time, and 2 are volunteers; so 50% of the staff is on food stamps/Obamacare. The scoreboard doesn't work every game, the bleachers are terrible, the scheduling is atrocious, they practice at the stadium, they have no recruiting budget. It's a miracle they won 4 games. The reason NSU can't compete at an elite level, is because the AD won't support them at an elite level.

And FYI pretty much every school in the southland practices in their stadium Can we have one discussion without a troll? jeez.

Hey, Natty Legend, These are "First-World" problems. Also, we can complain if we want because most or all of us are season ticket holders. And we wouldn't comment if we didn't care.

Of course they're 1st world problems, we're complaining about American football. My point is, which was clearly missed, that the AD is to blame for our mediocre program. Staff shuffling and poor facilities lead to lesser players, and stem from poor funding, which falls directly on the AD.
I attend ever game and want the program to succeed, but in its curent state, under Burke, the program will always be mediocre.
Great win on Saturday super happy for the seniors, players, and coaches. Finishing 4-2 after starting 0-5 is a great turnaround.

I agree that we do need new chairbacks, all purple, in the stadium as opposed to the chameleon seating we have now. It would also be nice to see some chairbacks on the upper deck between the 40-40 or 45-45 yard lines, maybe just under the press box. That way the upper deck wouldn't look so empty. As for facilities, we are in the upper rung in the SLC. Some programs have much less than us. Heck, I'd just be happy if we could start averaging 12k fans a game(15k the first two and around 10k or so the next three because we will lose some to hunting season and inclement weather) No need in making the place nicer if we can't average more than 8-9k fans a game. Of course, I am under the opinion the only way we will ever fill the place up is with a new, cooler, better marketed, more widely (regional) accepted mascot that fits our area (maybe something connected to the military w Fort Polk, Camp Beauregard and Barksdale ... that covers Leesville/DeRidder, Alexandria/Pineville and Shreveport/Bossier). Hard to market a "Demon" in a world awash in terror, violence and crime. Unless we want to continue to ram our heads against that wall. I mean, we came close to going to the NC game in 1998 and probably averaged about 11k per game then. So, winning isn't the only solution to fix our woes. We live in a new time. This isn't the roaring 20's when the "Demon" was an ominous Greek caricature and a cool named mascot. People equate ISIS and their lot to being "demonic." We need to walk away from this brand sooner than later. I love NSU enough to say this. Castigate me if you like. I don't care. Sometimes tradition becomes counter-productive.
