Well, I didn't expect us to win, but if I hunted the way we commit penalties in a game, the doves, quail, turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, deer, and wild boar would be long gone before I could get close to'em. Have mercy. I thought all this was gon' be cleaned up some? Not takin' anything from the Grizzlies. That's a good football team right there. Our coaches would have done better to sit with their coaches for a three hour clinic in a room behind closed doors. Instead, we're gettin' a clinic in front of everybody. You can tell we have some athletes, but for whatever reason, we have struggled the past 15-20 years. I'm wonderin' if this worm will ever turn.

Ive just never seen a team shoot themselves in the foot so much. We get in our own way more than any other team I have ever seen play this game. Ill concede we wont play a better team all season, but it just seems like we almost expect something bad to happen and we've had that mindset for the past 15 years. First game of the year with new coordinators in an environment like that with all the new faces and I certainly expected a lopsided loss, but we have to clean things up and get some confidence.

Well, that was a butt whoopin'. I reckon an avg of one yard per rush, 10 penalties, and five turnovers will get you beaten bad every time. It could have been worse, too. They left 7 points on the field. Next time NSU goes to Missoula it needs to be on vacation. It would be much more enjoyable. I wasn't expectin' a win at all, but I was lookin' for a much better effort than this. Good thing it's huntin' season. If we lose to Grambling next week, I'll be outta here and focused on the woods. Y'all take care and remember, it's just a game and doesn't mean a whole lot compared to real life. Congrats to the Grizzlies. Go win it all.

Yes, I will certainly be rooting for the Griz to make a run in the playoffs and win it all. They could've played much better today as well.

We were beaten soundly in every phase of the game. Hats off to the Grizzlies. They are better than us. Period. All we'll hear is "coachspeak" as to why we lost, though. I sure would appreciate it if a coach would come out and say, "We just got our entire ass kicked by a better team and all those mistakes in the game are my fault. Sure, it's the first game of the year and we're playing one of the best FCS teams in the country, but if I can't fix this, I'll resign. I want what is best for the university and it's my job to fix our many problems that have been lingering for years. I'm either going to fix it or we'll get someone in here who can fix it." If I heard that from a coach it would be so refreshing from the normal excuses or explanations. For the record, I hope they can correct the issues and salvage the season. We'll know soon enough.

Can’t really add anything that hasn’t already been said. Very frustrating to watch. I understand Montana is one of the best teams in the country, so I’m not upset about the L (which is a different problem entirely).
I’m just tired of our teams looking completely unprepared and undisciplined every single game/season. All we hear all offseason is how prepared the team is, and then every year it’s the same disappointment.
I’m not going to stop supporting my Demons, whether emotionally or financially, but it gets old.

When you analyze your football team, you ask the question did you team fight? For about 1.5 quarters, we were in the fight and though the score was 13-0...there were some bright spots that from the NSU side of things...we could have turned it around. Then the madness happened...a special teams blunder, several unsportsmanlike conduct penalties (signs of an undisciplined team), and the real kicker...the team gave up! I get it, it's the first game of the year but we were not a team today...we were just individuals on the field playing sandlot football with no cohesion. If this was mid-season, Montana beats us by 10 TDs easily with this performance. Forget the drawing board, coaches need to own it...this was the test and they failed.
On to Grambling who isn't doing much better today with Arkansas State.
