Hardly see how patience after 4 years is going to bring change. Plan on the same for next year.

I must say I am surprised. However, one of the frustrations and also the goodness of Northwestern is their patience and loyalty. Brad should do some staff and self evaluations prior to Spring practice.

Patience and goodness for Laird but not the assistant coaches? Where does the buck stop on the coaching staff?

Well, give the young feller a chance. It's only a year. Somebody on here said the coach at UT-Martin wasn't that great at first and now he has his team in the playoffs. Seems to me that it took Sam Goodwin awhile to build a NC caliber team. He got close, but not quite there. I reckon that might be harder these days with these young'uns transferring all the time. Natchitoches is a pretty good lil' college town, though. A place where parents can feel OK leaving their kids behind. A lot of places can't say that due high crime rates. Alright, fellers. I have to go feed my animals. Y'all have a good'un.

This isn’t Baton Rouge where we fire a coach after he wins a national championship. Patience pays off when you find a good coach. I’m glad we are keeping Brad on at least another year. It would be foolish to jettison him when we are in a search for an athletic director. We need an AD, and that person needs to get their bearings before trying to empty out your money-making sport. I understand why Smiley is gone, but the boys on defense are ticked off about Lucas being gone. It’s going to get interesting in the spring and summer. They will be offering scholarships and walk-on invites to anything that moves to fill the empty team roster. Let the signings begin.

Looks as if La Tech is moving in the right direction. Coaching change and getting young aspiring coach. These actions are the reason Tech has greatly surpassed the Demons who at one time, long ago, played on the same level. A program that hires and keeps the "good ole boy" system in place never grows.

We'll see if the "good ole boy" system stays in play when a new AD is hired. If the AD is a "good ole boy" pick, we are in for more problems. If Dr. Jones picks wisely, then maybe we'll get somewhere eventually. Good ole boys are like ticks that hang on for dear life and suck the life out of your program. So far, they've done a good job of that. This is basically the problem in Baton Rouge as well, except for the fact that they have the reverse problems of our program. They fire coaches too fast and have more money than sense. The only reason LSU doesn't tank is that they make money faster than they fire coaches.

I totally agree with all you said and it makes me sad.

Wait a minute, they let Lucas go? I soooooo disagree with that move. Smiley's offense was too predictable but that defense was young and flying around in the last game.

Well I’m glad we had one game of good defense finally because the other 10 games we got run through like shit through a tin horn. I’m sorry I’m not happy with 35 points a game and giving up an average of 440. But hey, I’m not happy with 3-8 either, so maybe my expectations are too high.

I reckon the new president needs to give the new AD some deeper pockets for assistant football coaches. I know it ain't easy, but we can't afford not to, though. Football is the sport that makes all the money. Surely there are some coaches in D-II or D-III that would be happy to move up to FCS? Whatever happened to the La College coach from Evangel or Calvary or one of them private schools in Shreveport? He done a nice job in Pineville. I don't remember why he left LC, though. Can't remember his name right off. All I know is there's enough football players in Louisiana, Mississippi, East Texas, and Arkansas to compete for a NC in football. Plenty enough. Git'er done, Brad.

Javon Antonio, Scooter Adams and Marquis Bridges entered the portal. Jacob Logan entered about a month ago.

If players can't be loyal, then don't let the door close on the backside on the way out. None of those players made a difference this past season and all of'em could have helped us and themselves out. Every player and every coach is replaceable. So, bye!

Javon Antonio is no surprise. I expected him to come back strong after a great spring. Didn't materialize.
Adams is a huge loss. The homerun is gone.
Bridges really didn't make much of an impact, but his JUCO tape is ridiculous. So maybe we just missed the mark with him.
