What a second-half sh*t show! Congrats to McNeese, but my goodness, we literally handed the game to them. Speaking of that, we've literally handed the game to them down there several times. Almost starting to seem a bit fishy. I mean, sorry Poke fans, but McNeese just isn't that good anymore. Obviously, we're not as good as them based on their record against us, but how do you go from pretty much dominating the game until all of sudden back to Midwestern State game form? Something doesn't seem right here. That or The Hole curse swallows us up every time. To button this up, I don't see a Southland team, sans maybe UCA, that can do anything in the playoffs. The league is way, way down.

I have been frustrated with Laird and company, but I've never stopped supporting them. Someone very close to the program talked to me last week and explained to me some things I was unaware of and how the coaches were working hard. I believe in the coaches and the players, but we sucked in the 2nd half tonight. Period. No need in pretending we didn't. That was a terrible 4th quarter performance, but it is what it is. We move on.

The McNeese defense comes alive in the second half of games. In the last three games, the McNeese defense has given up 7, 3, and 3 points in the SECOND HALF to HBU, SFA, and the Demons, respectively. Thirteen second half points in three games! If you don't think that means much, look what y'all did in the second half against UCA and UIW. Look at the yardage and points SFA put up against Guidry and the great SLU Lions defense yesterday. Yes, you had to settle for field goals rather than TD's and your QB threw two TD's. I will credit our D for bending and not breaking in the first half and then shutting the door in the second half. Defensive Coach Gush, apparently, knows how to make adjustments. Maybe McNeese isn't the McNeese of old, but the defense is still pretty good.
I actually kind of pull for the Demons in your other games, but just can't stand the purple guys and the ulcers you cause me when you play McNeese. I guess I can put away my black cat and voodoo doll until the next time the Demons come to LC.
Sincerely, good luck the rest of the way!

McNeese KO return for 6, missed NSU chip FG to end half and NSU fumble on KO that gave McNeese short field for another 6 and the lead. It was less about adjustments and a lot about that IMO.

The first half and the first part of the 3rd quarter is the worst that we have played all season. Mistakes galore on our part.
We were lucky to win.

Good luck the rest of the season The McNeese defense shut down the Demons the whole second half. The Cowboys fell flat at Nicholls yesterday, but with a win at Lamar Saturday can finish 7-5. This is better than most expected with a new coaching staff/scheme at the beginning of the year. Congrats to the Demons on the win in Huntsville yesterday. I think the McNeese-Northwestern games are going to be something to look forward to like in the good old days.
