Will this conference matchup end up a butt-kicking or a chance to prove the worth we thought we'd have coming into the season? If we play the way we have the last four games, we'll get embarrassed, just like last week and the week before LSU. I wouldn't call UT-Martin an embarrassment. We just collapsed in the second-half. So, I sure hope the coaches have gotten the team ready for a rough and tough game of football this Saturday night. The Lions are playing really good football right now and are one of four teams that can win conference -- SLU, Nicholls, UCA, Sam Houston.

Got my tickets today and heading y'alls way with my camper to spend the weekend in town and enjoy some meat pies and Saturday night football. Not sure yet if we'll sit behind our bench nearby the students again or if we'll go to y'alls side on the north-western corner. What the Lions must prepare for is if the Demons put together a whole game. They've had great play, but only for a half. We'll see. They are desperate for a win and a desperate Demon is a dangerous thing for a Lion. Basically, I think many people are thinking this will be a blow-out, but I'm not convinced....

I think the visitor tickets are back on the east side stands. At least that was the case for the midwestern game. So prepare for the sun to be in your eyes for the first half. Safe travels.

I'm just hopefully we can keep it somewhat close. Last week that game was over by halftime.

Well, win or lose, it's up to the coaches and the team today. This is where we, the fans and alums, get to sit back and watch and cheer and/or cringe and take note, yet again, of our football program and its state of health -- improvement or decline. We been falling down the mountain all season, and for the past 14 years, so I'm hoping we'll get tired of that at some point. I mean ... surely we'll get tired of this ... at some point.

We are fighting tonight! You can see we were ready tonight, but it's only 2 quarters so let's finish strong!

We seem to get out adjusted at the half. Let’s see if smiley and Lucas can tinker with the game plan and we can keep it close heading into the fourth. Encouraged but we’ve had two games this year where we totally collapsed after the break so I’m hesitant to get excited.

I love the effort. This is the team I thought we'd see all season. Let's see what happens in the 2nd-half.

Seems like a broken record, the other team adjusts and we get smoked like a pack Kools in the second half.

Yep I hate to say but I expected this. 20-3 third quarter scoring disparity. What a bummer.

0-5! If we could only just stop our games at halftime, our record and the way we look would be different. We need this bye week to gather the troops, but Nicholls and UCA coming up....sheesh. I like our fight, but we need to get an understanding of how we cannot make 2nd half adjustments. We are very youthful on defense, but we are 3rd from the bottom in FCS football in giving up points. Laird hangs his hat on the defense, this goes back to is it schematic mistakes, youthful players, development, or just getting outcoached? I think you can combine them all and make gumbo, but it sure doesn't taste good because it's cold as our team is.

First of all, hats off to SLU for being the better team. We competed hard for three quarters tonight. That's an improvement if that's how you gauge football games. I don't, but some like moral victories. I like the fight in the players, but that means nothing. For me, this falls squarely on the shoulders of the coaches. There is ONE trend in four of the five games this season (can't count LSU) and that is we're getting outcoached in one of two halves. UT-Martin, we got manhandled in the 2nd-half. Midwestern State, we looked awful the whole game. HBU, we got manhandled in the first-half. Tonight, we gave up 27 points in the 2nd-half. Twenty-seven points in ONE-half and we weren't playing an FBS team. My goodness. SLU was the superior team, for sure, but dadgum we have fallen way, way down the ladder. Busted coverage after busted coverage on defense, far too many short passes and no running game on offense, and undisciplined in the most untimely phases of the game. The defensive backfield seems to be a patchwork of about 12 different players. We don't have any constant starters there, especially at CB. I like that we haven't given up on the season, but that's not how you're measured. You're measured in wins and losses and there we are very poor. So, we're 0-5, quite predictable on offense (we have some good talent on offense, too), have NO effective running game (I never said we didn't have good RBs), and are getting heavily outcoached for a quarter to a half to three quarters in EVERY game. Now, these same coaches might figure it all out and go far in the playoffs in two or three years, but right now they're getting their asses handed to them weekly and not necessarily by the best coaches we'll see all year. If this start doesn't humble our coaching staff, nothing will. There's an old adage I've heard that fits here perfectly, "You'll start winning when you get sick of losing." Obviously, we haven't gotten sick of losing yet. Do I have hope we will someday. Yes, I do. When? I haven't a #$%^&*@ clue.

Soccer team deserves some kudos. They have won five in a row after starting out 0-5.

Soccer team deserves some kudos. They have won five in a row after starting out 0-5. Never forget that our soccer program started 0-46 (or something like that) and then proceeded to get their first win in the conference tourney (and won the tourney) As far as football. Something is obviously not working. Need an entire evaluation of the state of the program
