First the positive. I am proud that our athletic programs seem to focus on the students and to my knowledge are conducted in a fully compliant and professional manner (are you listening LSU hacks). Now the criticism. It is not a totally positive outcome for Northwestern State University athletics when the only team sport this year with a winning record is tennis. I am always and forever a true purple Demon fan but losing sucks.

I am always and forever a true purple Demon fan but losing sucks. Strange and tough year. Soccer actually did well in conference play and had best season in like a decade. Injuries killed the men's basketball team. They'd have been the team nobody wanted to see if they'd have made the conference tourney with a healthy Zeek. I'm not giving up on baseball or softball and nice thing with them is it can all get good in the conference tourney. Football no doubt must be better. Liked what I saw and heard this spring. I know it's not what people call a "major sport" but don't sleep on the track team. Did real well at the indoor meet and right now have some of the best marks not just in the conference but in the country. And yeah overall the department has a good look from the outside. Diehard Demon fan here too.

I wouldn't get too down. Basketball definitely has some tremendous potential next year and showed some promise.
Track is doing really well right now and looks to be a contender in the near future. Baseball has some very exciting young players (Caleb Ricca for one) and should be a contender in the near future.
Football is definitely at a critical point. Another losing season and I can't see Jay Thomas as head coach for much longer. Need a definite turnaround this year.

I agree with TrackDemon on all accounts. Things aren't as bad as some may think, but football is at a key juncture. I have my own conspiracy theory about what will happen if there isn't a righting of the ship this year. Actually, I think no matter what happens, we may have a shakeup in the coaching ranks. But, who am I to say, I have no vote in what happens.

I also agree with that and I believe your conspiracy theory may be more fact than fiction. I'm also expecting a shakeup as well.
Shame how far football has fallen.
