Not meaning to make excuses. I was just pointing out several of the many problems this program has including the many excuses being made week after week. I agree with you 100%. No more excuses. Accept responsibility. Win some ball games.

I think this is where I take the most issue with this staff. Every loss there are excuses and refs throwing flags and this or that...If we aren't playing well, take ownership of it and state the obvious that we just aren't a good football team right now. I would feel a lot better if that was just said. The articles on the website are always spun to make it seem like we should take a moral victory and we're "so close" with every loss and its incredibly aggravating. No we're not...We just accept mediocrity. With every heartbreaking loss to shitty teams like incarnate word I just can't but think about the days when we would go toe to toe with mcneese, be a factor in the race for conference and turpin was always a dreaded place to play for visiting teams. We kicked appalachian state's ass at home, beat ULM, TCU, and ULL and look at us now. This is the state of our program. Incarnate freaking word who just got pounded by a crappy division 2 team comes into turpin stadium and beats us. It just sucks.
Kinda went on a tangent there, but its just so upsetting.

Cajun,
I feel you all the way man. Its disappointing to say the least. And saying that we are mediocre is being generous. Hell Houston Baptist has found ways to win and they are 2-1 so far. Just let thank sink in. I bet their coaches are finding ways to get the most out of their players. Yes! I remember we looked forward to those money games because it was a chance we could win them or at least COMPETE.
Right now our offense is scoring one touchdown a game... How embarrassing is that. If that is the case this weekend versus SELU then Coach Thomas HAS to go with a staff change on offense..

You're absolutely right...that's why I don't take trips to Natchitoches on Saturday anymore. As a former SoN member I can see their performances on youtube and still keep up with what's going on. People can only get excited about reliving the win over LaTech from a few years ago...that is the state of our program. The fact that you and I can only share a nostalgic experience thinking about the football program of 1998 or 2000 or 2001 or 2002 (I was in school and in the marching band during those years and got to witness some awesome football games) and the playoff appearance in 2005(?). We're not a very good football program these days. It's to the point that I wish we would have never canned Scott Stoker...our program has seen the lowest of the lows since he left.

I agree with everthing that has been said. I ache for the days when we were always ranked in the nations top 20. But i do still drive 4 1/2 hrs for every home game. I just love my U.

The early 2000's were the first years I began attending NSU games. I didn't fully understand the significance of being able to travel to Monroe and beat them in their house. Going to Turpin was always a blast cause I knew NSU was gonna win and I was gonna get to run around on the field after the game with 50+ other kids and everyone would be in a good mood. It is crazy how much that has changed in the past 10 years or so.
One thing that drives me crazy the past few years is how nobody seems to deal in reality within the program. For instance, the past few years, one of the big achievements of our program is how we finish the season strong with a winning record in the month of November. Yeah, we play ACU, SFA, and usually Nicholls in three of our last four games. So every year we get just destroyed by Sam (aside from 2 years ago), then beat ACU and Nicholls and SFA and then turn around and pat ourselves on the back for finishing 4-7 or 5-6.
It's crazy man.. The Mcneese rivalry is hard to even call a rivalry anymore. Losing 11 straight can do that to a series.
